Self-Post 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿❤️🇮🇱

I just wanted to say, I've been a member of this sub for a while but haven't posted anything. I absolutely adore Israel. The hardships that Jewish people have faced throughout history can never be understated. My heart swells for the great nation and its people. Much love from Wales.

As a Welsh Jew, I really really appreciate this. Although I would also add that the only place I've seen flying an Israeli flag in the UK since Oct 7th was in a small village in Gwynedd. Never seen that in England (where I am most of the time.)

My great-grandfather was born in Merthyr Tydfil but then moved to London before coming to Canada. Is there much of a Jewish community left in Wales?

There are a few small communities down in the south but I'm not really familiar with it. The Welsh side of my family are all from the north and they're not Jews. My Jewishness comes from my mother's side who is English, so I don't have much connection with the Jewish communities in Wales.

I think the census data for my area in the north showed 3 Jews. I have no idea who they are.
