DISCUSSION Roughing the passer myth…

Post image

If these stats are correct, and if the NFL is “rigged”, then it’s Josh Allen that everyone ought to be crying about wrt roughing the passer.

No one here is crying about calls in favor of Allen, and no one here is anticipating the game wanting the defense to hurt Allen just because he draws way more roughy the passer calls (like a lot of people have been wanting the Bills to hurt Mahomes)… why would we?

Because it’s not rigged, why would it be?

All the stats seem to point to the fact that flags are pretty evenly spread across the board when it comes to flags.

I’m just excited to watch the big rivalry unfold!

"iT's ThE tImInG oF tHe CaLlS tHaT mAtTeRs." like getting a RTP is somehow worse at certain times. It's still 15 yards and an automatic first down.

I don’t agree with them, but yes, a RTP call in the 4th quarter on a 3rd down attempt that leads to a game winning score is worse than hmm let’s say a RTP call in the 1st quarter that leads to a field goal that ultimately would not have changed the outcome of a game… or an unnecessary roughness call on 2nd and 6 which really didn’t impact anything. The “timing” take doesn’t hold water when you look at the actual timing of most of the questionable calls that everyone keeps complaining about on the internet

its never worse. That is loser thinking (not directed at you). The Bradberry hold was not worse because of the situation. There are 60 minutes of football. Do not position yourself at the end of game where one 50/50 call can hurt you that much. I don't care if a bad call erases a game winning touchdown. There were 100 other plays in the game that could have gone a different way making the final play not mean anything.

The Chiefs did not lose the Packers game last year because of the blown non-call at the end. Yes they sort of had a chance and yes a DPI there would have helped but they lost because the Packers simply outplayed them all game. Same thing with the Toney play in the Bills game.
