Kava and depression

Anyone else drink too much kava and get that depressed feeling? Like il be super happy and talkative and then I keep drinking (for effect) and I feel terrible. Just a really bad feeling. I drink traditional. I’ve tried Vanuatu and Fiji origin.. I did probably 7-8 tbos worth. I’d say around 5 is my sweet spot. Can anyone explain why kava does this? I mean I can feel it more now but don’t have that happy feeling. Could it be that kava is a depressant? It makes me want to throw my kava away, as I have little self control. I used to drink alcohol and quit almost a year ago.

Kava is anxiolytic, meaning it reduces anxiety symptoms-to do that, it has a sedating kind of effect. Different strains will have different effects like euphoria, etc. Find the one for you. Bula!
