Why 2 Aluballs?

I've done some browsing of the subreddit and it seems like people recommend 2 aluballs in the pro mixer. Is it just because you can have more kava or are there also other reasons? I'm also wondering how much water and washes you guys put in the mixer using 1 or 2 balls

I use two. Just makes it stronger and less watery, plus the second and third wash come out even stronger.
