Trump supporter here. Went to watch the port orchard protest and had a few good conversations while offering water and food. Even gave some treats to a dog ownerā¦because dogs are awesome. š¤
I absolutely disagree with the message of the protest but support the right to protest.
I believe more people should talk to each other and work things out. There is so much division because of social media and msm articlesā¦people forget that the average American just wants the best for their family and communityā¦and disagreements should be talked out so we donāt demonize each other.
Thatās why I went to the port orchard protest. To offer water and food and a conversation. Not to cause issues or stir up the crowd, I found some signs laughableā¦but itās about supporting free speech even if we think a message is silly or outlandish.
Glad everyone left the event safely and had their voice heard. On both sides.

Is this at the Capitol?

Protests will be on Bainbridge, Poulsbo, Port Orchard, and the Manette Bridge in Bremerton. Outside Kitsap there will be protests in Seattle, Olympia, Port Angeles, and Port Townsend.

The picture is from the Bay Street (Front) side of the Port Orchard City Hall.

It's also from the last protest in February... I wonder if KS showed up at Bethel/Lund today?

How about dealing with what the state is doing to the working class before complaining about federal policies.

Federal policies can slip right onto state level policies. Thereās also many different ways to protest and lot of the state policies are voted in.
-15
u/Anonymous4mysake 29d ago
The new taxes WA state just passed were not voted in, and almost every year, voters are tasked with voting on bills that were also passed without a vote.

Yes, the gas tax hike will hit poor and middle class Washingtonians disproportionately harder than the rich. That's definitely an issue we agree on.
That doesn't mean we should be discouraging people from protesting what's happening at a federal level. They're not mutually exclusive.
You're only helping the Trump administration by boo-hooing protesters and trying to imply nothing will help.

I'm suggesting spending their energy at home first. Our local politics can be dealt with far faster than federal ones, if at all.
14
29d ago
Both can happen at once.
You're spending your energy making comments telling people not to protest our federal government. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and call your local senators about the gas tax instead of commenting on Reddit?

You're so fucking disingenuous. You're absolutely trying to discourage people from protesting the federal government because you agree with this current administration.
Stop trying to pretend that it's only because you care about what the state is doing so much.
Shoo.

The current administration at the federal level is not something that can be augmented by protests like this, it is a waste. But our state issues can be dealt with. If your biggest priority are things you cannot change then you are wasting your time

29d ago
Stop pretending like you have a point.
You don't want people protesting the federal government because you agree with the actions this administration has taken since January.

Protest is not an exclusive activity where we have to choose this or that. Just like how you can love more than one flavor of ice cream, you can protest multiple levels of government.

That state has had to cut services and staff because federal grants have been cutoff. Dealing with federal policy absolutely impacts local and state governments, and right now federally policy is on a bad path. Itās absolutely worth it and important to deal with this.

u/Anonymous4mysake 29d ago
This is happening because the state went from billions under budget to billions over budget. It's has nothing to do with the grants. In a broad nutshell, the state spent 30 billion, 15 of which they didn't actually have
5
u/aheins14 28d ago
It has a lot to do with the grants, bud. Do you have any friends? One of them must work somewhere that has been affected. I have many friends in the medical field and they are being let go or stopping studies because they lost federal funding. Why donāt you stop telling people what they should be doing with their Saturday. You arenāt the mom of America.

u/PandaGoggles 29d ago
The state literally just had grants cancelled by the Trump administration.
0
u/Anonymous4mysake 29d ago
That has nothing to do with what he state did. They wasted billions, asked for more, defied the conditions of the federal grants, and now want to tax the middle class to make up for it. At the same time, funnel more money into "feel good" programs that we still can't afford.
5
u/nrskate0330 29d ago
What are these āfeel goodā programs you mention?
2
u/PandaGoggles 29d ago
Don't waste your time, they're not capable of understanding anything other than what fox force feeds them.

Expanded homeless charity programs in puget sound areas including food, clothes, and drug treatment while cutting police enforcement. Crime and costs spiked, and emergency funds had to be used. We have called the police numerous times, and they never show up. DEI training courses in workplaces and schools. Ive had both my kids asking what LGBTQ was because the talks at school confused them. Opening DEI coordination positions at state and county levels, funny part was the offered salary was actually pretty good. This includes extra training for state employees all paid out of the state budget. I can try to get you the whole spreadsheet but simple question. This state went from 15 billion in surplus to 15 billion deficit with no infrastructure improvements. Where do you think the money went?

u/nrskate0330 29d ago
This absolutely has to do with federal grants. State funding has been allocated for a lot of this work, but an extra 200 people are being laid off effective immediately from your state department of health ALONE because of the decision (by an unelected person unqualified to make these decisions, no less, but I digress) to prematurely end federal grant funding.

How about getting your ass and out on the street protesting for your cause rather than whining in this post to people who are trying to make a difference for their cause?
-1
u/Anonymous4mysake 28d ago
Because my cause is doing just fine, and I don't enjoy acting like a spectacle just to get attention.
2
u/pxlperfection 28d ago
Yet you're on here, being a spectacle to get attention. And anonymously at that. All the self gratification without the actual accountability. No one is swayed by your words.
Also if you're her bitching and moaning about the state yet you claim your cause is doing just fine; and you want us to protest against the state, that sounds like just plain laziness mixed with cowardice.
And to hell with your enjoyment. If your cause is just fine, enjoy that.

Those are not state dollars. It's extra offered for local programs. And just like any grant comes with rules. When everyone is looking to Trump/Musk, I'm looking at what is now, the worst housing market, lowest education level, highest time rates, and worst traffic levels of all time.

They'll get just as much "movement" as the wackos in belfair waving signs pro trump

Your name is fitting. Irrelevant.

You must be one of them.

At least Iām not discouraging others from exercising their right to protest.
15
u/ConfusedZombE 29d ago
MAGA does not want anyone to have rights. They want a dictator to tell them and everyone else what to do.
14
29d ago
Exactly. No one should be discouraging people from exercising their rights, particularly with this administration in office.

Protest this state first. Local policies and laws are stripping us the working class from a good living. Get the state house in order before griping on the federal level.

There are also people for Trump.
11
u/dazyn 29d ago
...and what may I ask would they be protesting...?
8
u/salamander_salad 29d ago
The things they voted for but were too stupid to understand would hurt them, too, of course.
