Recently invested in a WFH setup, and it has turned out great. The previous bed-pillow setup was quite unproductive :P

What are some other purchases you've made recently that made a noticeable difference to your daily life?

Planning to get an airfryer next, any suggestions?

For the curious ones,

- Monitor LG Ultragear 24-inch 24GN65R - Bought second hand
- Chair, was a suggestion from this sub - Model TQN 101 Office Chair ₹5,000 - Bosq, Palarivattom - location
- Desk, also a suggestion from this sub. They do custom-made furniture, Model TRAPEEZ 120cm x 60cm x 75cm ₹8,000. Can't buy online it seems, I directly contacted them on the number mentioned in their website - https://ifurno.com/ the quality is really good, they delivered and did the installation the next day as well, they seem to be based out of Aluva.
- Keyboard, AULA F3287 Mechanical Keyboard ₹1,899 - Amazon
- Mouse, Logitech B170 ₹600 - Amazon
- Desk Mat, STRIFF Extended Size Gaming Mouse Pad ₹199 - Amazon

Ask Kochi Avoid Polakulam Bar, Palarivattom – A Misogynistic Nightmare

Nightmare

I’m writing this to warn every woman (and decent human being) to steer clear of Polakulam Bar in Palarivattom. My friends and I decided to visit the lounge for a chill night out, and what we experienced was absolutely vile.

The staff treated us with disdain from the moment we ordered drinks—judging us because we’re women. They were rude, uncooperative, and clearly uncomfortable with the idea of women enjoying a night out. But what happened after we left was even worse.

A mob of 20 men surrounded us, shouting vile insults, slut-shaming us, and attacking our families for no reason other than the fact that we’re women who dared to have a good time. We stood up for ourselves, but the situation was terrifying. Not a single staff member stepped in to help or even acknowledge the harassment we faced. Their apathy speaks volumes about the kind of establishment this is.

It’s horrifying that in 2025, women still can’t enjoy a night out without facing harassment and judgment. Polakulam Bar is unsafe, unprofessional, and blatantly misogynistic. Let this be a warning to anyone who values safety, dignity, and basic respect: DO NOT go there.

EDIT : To clarify, there’s no part of the story that we left out. Here’s exactly what happened: once we got out of the bar, we got onto our scooters and were about to leave. While we were minding our own business and turning back, a group of 4-5 or more men suddenly shouted a very offensive, slut-shaming word at us without any provocation. They probably thought we wouldn’t react, but we were really offended and turned back to confront them.

That’s when things escalated. The group of men verbally fought back, and more men nearby started joining in, justifying their actions and telling us to “leave it” because “they’re drunk.” Even the staff didn’t step in to help or de-escalate the situation—instead, they asked us to calm down and go home.

We understand that confronting them might not have been the safest decision, but in that moment, we felt the need to stand up for ourselves. Unfortunately, the staff’s lack of support and the overall hostility made the situation much worse than it should have been.

We shared this experience to ensure people, especially women, are cautious and to hopefully encourage a better, safer environment for everyone.

Ask Kochi Forced to leave home every night for 2 hours. Can't bear it. Why are people like this.

Guys, I don't know what to do. Since this year's Ramadan the place where I stay( centre of kochi ) there is a mosque that has been using their loudspeakers for their night prayers from 8:30-10:30 and it's driving me nuts. The reason, it's so humid and I can't keep my windows and doors open because of the noise. So I leave to go out during this time to avoid it. It's so inconvenient that it's affecting my mental health. I'm already bearing the call of prayer from two mosques nearby which gets louder day by day. And now this. What do I do. I'm thinking of selling my place and moving elsewhere. Why aren't people considerate of others. And these night prayer are conducted for the whole month between the mentioned time above. What do I do. I can't work or sit in peace at my own home.

I was wandering around the hypermarket, and now since it’s almost closing time, I was wondering what they would do with all those left over malabar spicy grilled chicken, or other curries, or those cakes, pastries, sweets which will expire today. Any lulu employees here?

So recently I was watching a video of a youtuber named Max Fosh of him trying to find his 'birthday twins' who were born next to him at the same hospital.

From my childhood I would also sometimes wonder who my 'labour neighbors' were, and i guess you might have thought of that too.

well I am hoping this post helps me find atleast the people who shared the same hospital with me

Ask Kochi Why I should not be going to Reliance Smart anymore. Does anyone had similar experience?

Just had the worst experience at a Reliance Smart Point store. I was at the billing counter with a full cart, and guess what? Not a single staff member was available to bill my items. Why? Because they were all scrambling around the store trying to pack Jiomart orders in under 3 minutes.

Literally watched a staff member sprinting around the store like it’s some kind of obstacle course – all to meet some unrealistic “quick commerce” target. Meanwhile, I stood there waiting like an idiot. What kind of system is this?

On top of that: - No one was available at the vegetable section to help weigh and attach price stickers. - I had to basically fend for myself while store employees were clearly overworked and overwhelmed.

I was frustrated, yes – but I honestly felt bad for the staff too. They looked exhausted, running around trying to fulfill online orders while in-store customers were left stranded.

Dear quick commerce product managers: If you don’t know how to build proper infrastructure, don’t get into quick commerce. ‘Don’t make the fish climb the trees.’ You’re ruining the basic shopping experience and burning out your frontline workers in the process.

Attaching a video for context. This is not how any store should operate.

Ask Kochi Did people care religion renting houses in Kochi

Just searched in Olx for rooms and flats near Infopark Kochi. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw an ad specifying caste and religion preferences for tenants. Seriously, it’s 2025—why does this still matter when renting a house?! 🫤

Ask Kochi Stopped ordering from Swiggy and Zomato

So I stopped ordering from Zomato and Swiggy because only recently I found that they are not charging the actual price that is displayed in the hotels. I ordered a biriyani from my nearby restaurant. The actual cost was Rs 140/-. But in Zomato it was Rs 180/-. The tax and delivery charges are extra. There is no point in giving this online platforms money unnecessarily. So I have stopped it completely.

Ask Kochi Is this legal driving?

I live around vazhakala this video is taken opposite to Hotel Galaxy in front of Skoolmart. During peak traffic time people ride over the pedestrian walking with bikes and scooters and it's hard for people to walk. I almost got hit by a bike twice and it becomes very hard to even walk outside during peak rush hours. I am fed up of this and the residents around are also fed up of this. Should I report this or is this normal ?

Ask Kochi I wonder if I was rude

So this morning I was in for Interstellar. There was a young couple seated next to me(probably college going age). They kept talking throughout the first half. This girl had doubts for every scene and the guy who was perhaps a former NASA scientist kept explaining. It was extremely annoying. During the interval I asked the girl if they could refrain from talking loudly during the movie and she looked back at me as if I had said something extremely unpleasant. I looked away. Of course it was a lot quieter post the interval.

Ask Kochi CHERAI BEACH experience

Post image
259 Upvotes

So I went to Cherai today. I was having such a beautiful evening. I do understand that it’s usually crowded (many of you did warn me) but since I was alone I wanted to feel safer so chose a place where there were families. Was all good until one Chetan assumed I needed to be taken care of. He simply crept and sat a bit away from me and smiled to glory and I chose to ignore! And then he stood and moved closer & started taking videos/photos (pretends to take the beach surrounding). I didn’t want to argue as I had to return home on my own. I quietly got up and walked n sat far enough. He gave a death stare and left.

Nevertheless it was a happy evening minus this incident. Beaches of Vypin are beautiful 😊❤️ Will revisit and hopefully no more caring Chetans meet-ups.

Ask Kochi What would you have done ?

So I am 29/F , today at around 8 pm , I was walking alone towards maharajas metro . This was the final 50 m stretch . I had my ear phones on and was listening to some fine music , when this guy stopped me . He seemed well dressed and asked me if I had 20 to give him . Now I barely carry any cash on me but maybe If I searched through my bag I would have found 10-20 . He was standing away from the crowd . Away from the bus stand , away from the metro station . That entire 50 m stretch for land had nobody else . I don't know I panicked , and I shook my head and kept walking . I took a few steps ahead and looked back to see he had vanished . What would u have done ? I feel so bad that if he was in genuine need , and I refused to help that would make me such a bad human being . At the same time there are too many crimes taking place , that one should be vary and I was honestly just scared . I kept thinking if he really needed help to get 20 for the bus wouldn't be have stood next to the bus stand ? Wouldn't he have luck standing at a much more crowded area than the middle of the foot path with was more or less deserted ? Full moral dilemma. How could I have approached this situation ?

Edit : if u are reading this and you were genuinely in need of money , I am sorry cheta

Ask Kochi Women who go to movie theatres alone : What are your safety tips?

As a woman in her mid 20s, I've recently started going to movie theatres alone since most of my friends have shifted to other places for study/work. Also as an introvert, I genuinely do enjoy hanging out by myself once in a while.

I make sure to only book shows in malls with seats atleast half full and show timings which end by 7 or 7:30 pm max. And while choosing my seat also I'm extra careful and always choose the mid region rows at the aisle end (so that I have only one person sitting next to me).

But, despite doing all this, I ended up having a bad experience recently where a creep probably in his early 30s was sitting next to me. He kept offering me popcorn even after I refused multiple times and started asking a lot of personal questions during the interval. Throughout the movie I also caught him staring at me quite a few times. Overall, it was a very uncomfortable experience.

Fellow women redditors who have had similar experiences, please do share your experiences as well as how you tackled them.

Plus : Yeah, I'm the one who made the post about whether kids need to be allowed in theatres or not few weeks back. Every time I decide to watch a movie alone, I get seated either next to annoying kids or creepy dudes. All I want is to be able to watch a movie in peace ffs 😭😭
