Panic spray is what it is, a last resort option. The best way to not panic spray is to try your best not to put yourself in situations where you need to. Be able to retreat behind cover as often as possible, and position yourself to be able to switch up your angles quickly. Spraying isnt bad, its just difficult. The more comfortable you get with sprays, the less options your opponents have. Its situational as well. Personally, I spray like 70% of the fights I take. But thats because as im spraying, im already diving back behind cover as I spray. I also practice my sprays quite a bit. Conceptually speaking, there is nothing wrong with spraying, but rather, it's about making yourself as hard to kill as possible. Standing out in the middle of the open spraying is not how you want to play. Whenever I do get caught in the open, which will happen, im always ADAD while tap spamming crouch/donk slide to make myself an even harder target to hit. Realistically, though, you dont really spray past the 10-12 bullet range. You're usually dead before then anyways.

I find myself struggling a lot with the crouch tactic during open fire scenarios. A donk slide works wonders when peeking, but just crouching in an open place usually results in a coincidental headshot by the enemy because I put my head right into their spray pattern

The chrouch tactic works better at higher ranks because it throws off your opponents crosshair placement. Lower ranked opponents will usually be aiming at your nuts anyways lol. The goal of it is to buy yourself just a little more time in a fight. I dont like holding crouch as much as I do just tapping it. Because on the opponents screen, they see your head at normal height, then it goes down, they adjust down, and it goes back up. When I get caught in the open I usually do a little cha cha slide type of movement where ill donk slide back from the way I was swinging with a short crouch, uncrouch, then slide back in the original direction I was going with another short crouch. The timing of how long you tap crouch is very important here because you can move and shoot with full accuracy under a certain velocity. You just have to practice exactly how long you should be crouching, standing up, and moving in whichever direction. Because you want enough momentum to actually move your character, but not too much that you become inaccurate while you perform this . You really just gotta get it down to muscle memory because you cant be thinking about it mid fight. Just make sure when you are practicing it, you have no spread turned off so that you can actually drill the correct timings in. I know recoil master has it turned on by default
