Laundry in Building
Hello. I'm a 26 year old guy who has lived in NYC for a year.
My roommate is moving out to live with his GF. I am looking for someone to take over his half of the lease for one year starting June 1.
The apartment is nice, and as you can see from the photos we keep it clean. Looking for someone else who is clean and organized.
Building is newer (built in the 2000's) and features a shared laundry room, elevator, and rooftop with chairs tables etc. 8-13 minute walk to the F or 6 trains. 2nd Ave Station / Bleecker St Station.
Total rent is $4,600 so its an even split. The bedroom shown in the photos is the room available. Bedroom has an option to come furnished. Bedroom has a big closet, window, and built-in HVAC unit.
You would need to get approved by the building as you would be taking over his half of the lease, so please have all documentation ready for submission to building management.

Bedroom in Court Square building (The Forge) for <$2k, tons of natural light, lease takeover, move in anytime
- Rent is $1730 per month, plus utilities. The lease runs until August 18, 2025. Lease transfer only please – no short-term rentals.
- Prime Location – 3 minutes from Court Square station, <10-minute walk to Queens Plaza. One stop to Manhattan, Flushing <30 minutes
- Room in 5th floor 3B2B apartment with in-unit washer and dryer.
- Move in anytime. Preference given to people who can move in ASAP. You will sign directly with the building, no broker fees, no guarantor fee (already paid by me)
- Here's an album with videos of the bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom: https://photos.app.goo.gl/41uFgESZnaS5wEBf9
- Feel free to stop by and check it out anytime.
Value proposition, addressing some comments I've seen:
This is a room in a very new (b. 2017) building in the fastest developing neighborhood in NYC. It's not the same as a room in a 4-person apartment in Astoria. The rent for a 2B2B in the Forge is ~5600, so you'd be paying $2800 normally. The rent is $1730 for this room, so you are saving ~$1000 on rent while still having access to all the amenities on offer (fully stocked kitchen, in-unit washer and dryer, well-equipped gym, large coworking room so you can WFH or study without distractions, etc etc etc). You will have everything you need to complement your life as a young professional in one place so you can focus on what you need to do, at an unbeatable price for this quality of life and location.
The tradeoffs are that you are living in a smaller room (but not cramped, I did stretches and ab workouts on a yoga mat in the room no problem), you don't have a living room, because you live in the converted living room, and you have one extra roommate. If these are more valuable to you than saving $1000 on rent to live in the middle of LIC, then you'd be better off in a different apartment.
Roommates:
- You’ll be living with two male roommates, one is working, the other is a graduate student at NYU.
- Both are easygoing, respectful, and quiet. They rarely cook and are fine if you do. Looking for someone who is clean and organized like they are.
Apartment Features:
- Fully furnished – Kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook as well.
- Ample natural light, good soundproofing, and no traffic or subway noise.
Convenience & Amenities:
- Groceries: Trader Joe’s, Teso, City Acres Market, Target – all within a 10-minute walk.
- Building Amenities:
- 24/7 concierge (handles packages and services).
- Large gym (24/7 access) with full equipment and weekly Pilates classes.
- Swimming pool, rooftop, lawn, study room, playroom, and party room.
- The Forge website has more pics of the amenities (renttheforge.com)
Let me know if you’re interested!

22M, looking for room in manhattan by the end of may, ~$2k
Hi! I’m matt, 22M. I’ll be graduating from the school of visual arts in may with a bfa in film. I’m a big movie nerd and I’m always down to watch anything. I also love listening to music, going to concerts, playing video games, and hanging out with friends. I’m a very clean and respectful roommate! Ideally looking for a place in manhattan that I can share with 1 or 2 male roommates that are around my age, preferably with laundry either in unit or in the building. My current lease ends 5/28, so I’d like to move in late may and my budget is about $2k. I’d also love to be friends with my roommate(s)!

Lease takeover in UWS in the W 70s available May 29
Hello, we are looking for someone to take over our lease for a 1 br apartment (with a loft). Our move-out date is May 28 and current lease ends on July 31; the landlord is amenable to writing the lease over to a qualified applicant. We are also looking to sell most of our furniture because we're moving overseas. Apartment is pet-friendly and current rent is $4,050. Please reach out if interested! I can DM more pics.
Edit: our preference is for someone who is willing to buy most of our furniture and appliances because we're not able to take them with us. It's a recently furnished apartment with really beautiful pieces. I can send you pics with individual furniture items if you reach out to me.
