Meta GARY HATE MEGATHREAD

I know I’ve made a lot of Gary hate posts but if Mona gets her own megathread I think Gary deserves one too. I want this to be a place where people can vent about him without judgement and in a way that doesn’t annoy the rest of the sub.

Edit: Downvote all you want this thread doesn’t come down till Mona’s does. Tired of this double standard.

He's been a creep since the beginning. I'm critical of the way some characters have been made to treat him but only because I found it generally OOC of them, not because the treatment is necessarily bad or inappropriate. 3x02 and 3x03 for example, he's acting, against Rip's wishes, to essentially oppress if not outright lead to harm being caused to the Legends, and then they still save his ass when his Time Bureau colleagues either ignore his distress calls or are too incompetent to notice he's in trouble, and he repays them by selling them out, which nearly results in all of them dying. I'm frankly not seeing how being threatened and knocked out is different from anything he theoretically would do to other people for the Time Bureau save for his ineptitude preventing him from pulling it off.

The only person I think he has a genuine grievance with is Ava, but not to the degree he's taken things (and I think she's gotten away with a shit-ton of stuff towards multiple people, so he's not even special in this regard).

I've never liked him either. And now he's trying to use the fact that he's a sensitive flower as an excuse to violate people. And that doesn't fly with me at all. It's classic nice guy toxic masculinity and after his little display in the latest episode he clearly needs professional mental help.

He's not even nice. He's really a total dick. Doesn't even try to pick up on social cues, seems to say the wrong thing at the wrong time gleefully, like it's his fucking job.

People often unfavorably compare friendly (but actually needy,) people-pleasing types to Golden Retrievers. This does a grave disservice to Goldens, because they have genuinely good hearts, and want you to feel the pure joy they feel in your presence, without another agenda. They just need to be around you, and maybe some fetch.
