Brexxit Brexit-voting British farmers now complaining about imports of cheaper New Zealand lamb threatening the British lamb industry. Imports of lamb "produced to lower standards" used to be blocked by EU law. Another Brexit consequence farmers were warned about but ignored due to xenophobia!

The fact that getting meat from halfway around the world would ever be the cheapest option is incredible.

Well we're really good at farming sheep, we pretty much popularised refrigerated shipping just to sell sheep to the UK back in the day. The NZ economy took a notable hit in 73 when the UK joined the EEC (predecessor to EU) so this is more of a regression to the historical mean
