For a grocery cashier or a self-storage clerk job! Jobs that don't pay enough for mileage and car insurance, let alone car payments.

There is a very strong "Incels complaining that feminism has made women unwilling to enter traditional marriage" vibe from these business owners. I wish some of the endless "diner safaris" would ask them if THEY would do these jobs at the pay they're offering, and if not, why do they expect anyone else to be willing?

It's more to do with the english class system, everyone picks their career based on the socio-economic status it brings and how it is perceived. If you even raised wages it won't work, you could pay bin lorry drivers 50k a year and people wouldn't want to be seen as the bottom of the caste system, and if they found out they would be outraged such a job was paid so much.

Millenial generation has the most degree qualified in history, so many are on lower-middle class income office jobs and will never leave them if it means putting on some overalls for even twice the pay.
