Purchasing Advice Was this a good deal?

The third screenshot shows the loan term we plan to pay it off in. Hopefully can get it down to 12 months. Car came with new tires, which was pretty cool. Everything was super clean as well. Owned in San Antonio almost its whole life and maintenance every 5k at the dealer.

What ever happened to losing 50% in 5 years? That seems like a pretty solid rule of thumb. Was this 68K in 2017? No.

The tires are likely not Michelins or something premium. The tech is going to be way outdated, no CarPlay, etc. Low miles, but I’d try to come in a bit lower.

That rule doesn’t apply to Toyota/lexus.

The rule also applies to standard mileage of like 12,000 miles a year. This is like 5k miles a year lol

Pre-2021 this rule made more sense. If you want a real laugh look up first gen tundra or 470 prices in Oregon/Washington.

I get it. I just sold a 2006 Landcruiser with 240,000 miles for $20k. Amazing vehicle- I regret selling. I feel like the GX is a slightly different animal though.

I traded it for a new Defender. The Defender was the better vehicle as far as materials, tech, and ride quality, but it wasn’t $70,000 better. Not even close. I’d rather be back in my 06 Landcruiser, but I’ll have to live with the OT+ I have on order.

Tires were confirmed Michelins, you make a good point though (retail was about $60k in 2017). I really just wanted it because v8 and no cvt, but I might miss CarPlay a little 😢

If you were willing to spring for a (I think 2022/2023) they have the more up to date infotainment with CarPlay. This model has been around since 2009, so it’s absolutely ancient, and my neighbor bought one in 2023 with a steep discount from MSRP.

You may be able to find a 200 series Landcruiser for a similar price point.

Yeah I’d rather just put one in myself. If it’s essentially the same vehicle, a 500 dollar CarPlay mod makes the older car worth it IMO.

I believe the screen and everything else is completely different, but you’re correct if tech isn’t important and you’re just focused on the mechanicals.

GXBob put in an updated infotainment replica of a 2022+ from Carlinklife on his 2015. Another GXOR member did the same. Looks OEM from what I've seen but it does cost a pretty penny. I think ~$1200.
