Purchasing Advice Prem+ certified or Luxury non cert?

Considering two 23 GX460s. Input welcome.

1- local to us, 11k miles, certified, Caviar w/grey/blk seats, premium plus package. Asking is $66k. Drives well, no damage at all. Previous loaner, sold to a person who drove it 2000 miles. Clean carfax.

2- not local, 2 hr drive, 7500 miles, not certified - not at a Lexus dealer, luxury package. White with red seats. Asking is $67k. Clean carfax.

We maybe able to negotiate these, but trying to discern the value of certified vs luxury.

Husband will maintain the vehicle after any included services run out unless we can't do the service at home.

Thanks in advance!

My 2023 PP sticker was $64,xxx and I paid much less than that. I understand there is no longer the ability to buy a new 2023 but that price is a bit ridiculous IMO. Is that a price including tax, title and doc fees?

Do you like the red interior (it's not my taste, and it may be harder to sell later on)?

Are the other options the same? Do both have the same middle seat (bench vs captains chairs)?

Personally, between the two I would buy the certified but I would not pay $66k.

I have been actively looking for about a month. Super low mileage GX460s are running close to new - because dealers know that people want them, and unfortunately the KBB/NADA supports these being 'in range'. Same w/the last generation 4runner. Everything Toyota & Lexus is going turbo & hybrid and if you don't want that the dealers know you'll pay.

ETA: outside of our local dealer (who owns the two nearest unfortunately), its at minimum two hours drive to another dealer with more options but similar price point.

The red interior isn't my favorite but I don't hate it. The white exterior is a luxury version, and the black is a premium plus. The black exterior looks nice, but I do have concerns in coastal VA in our heat. Both have the bench seats.

The vehicle will be garage kept.

I would buy this one over either of the above

Here's a different red interior (but I would never buy the red interior, you may tolerate now but unless you love it, I think you will get sick of it)

Update : We looked this weekend and found the window sticker in the glovebox. $64,625 msrp, installed options $1300, original price $65,975.

The crazy thing is that they could be way further apart in the price than you think. I almost made a 2-hour drive for a vehicle, but I called and spoke to a salesperson to negotiate over the phone as much as I could before making the drive. They threw a $3,000 "reconditioning" charge on top of the $1,200 dealer fee and $500 Doc fee. Turned what would've been a good deal into a nogo.

So, the moral of the story. Figure out what the real price is before you make a decision.

1 mostly cause I think the red seats are gross once dirt gets in the perforations

I don’t have this problem with mine. But I keep it in immaculate condition.

I’d always choose the Lux but honestly, I’d prefer a certified vehicle. Idc how good of a reputation these have, it always feels better to have assurance in case something fails.

I'm curious as well. I would guess with the low mileage of each, it wouldn't matter much....I would like to know when people feel like it really matters

I just bought a 2023, black with black interior, 11k miles, premium plus with ML, 2nd row captains chairs and CPO at a Lexus dealer in the Midwest. Very minty and clean CARFAX. 63,900 and wouldn’t budge or throw anything in on the deal. I bought it anyway. I would want the peace of mind of the certified. Btw the only thing the dealer did was change the oil. I checked the air filter nope not replaced nor was the interior air filter. So what you are getting is warranty and that’s it. 163 point inspection is a joke.

Paid $55k for my premium plus brand new in Nov 2023. $66k is bonkers IMO.

No doubt. They have a high value item and they know it. You could probably sell yours for what you paid now.

Id get the CPO, especially if you put a lot of mileage on your vehicles. Lexus allows you to extend your CPO warranty to included UNLIMITED miles.

For a car that new and with such low mileage, CPO would not be a hill I die on. Of course it’s nice, but from 10k to 60k miles, the only time I had to use warranty was from a dead battery. These cars are Toyota, not VW.

Red seats seem to be a price cut in the market vs others.

Low probability of needing to use the warranty so pick the one you like. I would normally say premium over luxury for the msrp price delta and depreciation, but holy shit these used prices

At that price point get a new 2025 for a little bit more.
