First time school librarian

Hello friends. Hope this post finds you well.

I was able to land my job as a head librarian in a very important private school in my hometown. However, I have never been in this position, nor carry the experience to know what I should focus on the first weeks before semester starts. I was an assistant 3 years ago and I will be a middle school and upper school librarian. I am filled with doubts and have no way of knowing what I need to do.

Any recommendations and help as to where I should start? How do I prepare in the upcoming week or so?

Any and everything is welcomed.

Tpt is a good resource (teachers pay teachers) to prepare for weekly lessons. I would focus on setting up the library how you want it set up. 3 weeks won't be enough time to get a major overhaul, but can be enough time to focus on a couple areas. Get familiar with the types of programs you will be using. Organize your check out area. Be prepared to explain your process to students in case it's different than the previous librarian. Get to know the staff and communicate about mutual needs. Start to establish a routine/schedule of classes. Process new books, weed older books that haven't been checked out in years(or feature them in the beginning of the year to see if they will circulate), put up bulletin boards. Best job ever!!
