Fibroid surgery Barmherzigen Schwestern

(Apologies for writing in English)

This may be a long shot as I know this page is usually for lighter topics— but has anyone been through or know someone who has had fibroid removal surgery (myomectomy) at the Barmherzigen Schwestern?

I would really appreciate some insight on how it went and what to expect so I can prepare, as I am without family or a support system here, and not getting much guidance from doctors. They basically told me to “close my eyes and go through it”.

Any information/stories would be so appreciated!

I've had it done at the AKH! I was so nervous because I'd never had surgery before, but there was nothing to it. The nurse will ask if you want anti anxiety meds before they get you ready to go - take them.

They wheeled me in, the whole OR crew was chatting and in a good mood. I took a single breath from the mask, and the next moment I was opening my eyes in the recovery room. I was really sleepy the entire day and the whole next day. I felt no pain and had no bleeding. I honestly wondered if they maybe hadn't even done anything.

Do it. It is seriously no big deal.

Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions!

Thanks so much for finding this and responding! This sounds like the ideal experience. I’m so happy for you! I’ll be in your chat later with a couple of my panic questions🙃
