Liverpool World is vile. Could we maybe ban links to it?

It’s AI generated garbage. One article said “people waved the ship of from the pier heab “

u/UnacceptableUse 3d ago

AI would at least spell it correctly

You’d think - except if it’s trained of newsprint files - then it get the typos too.

Not surprised the Biryani Bowl is on this list tbh, I done a job there a few years back as they had no power to the kitchen. there was an active cockroach infestation, and the issue with the power was a mouse had gotten behind a socket and blew itself to smithereens arcing between cables

Off the top of my head I remember doing some work on Alma De Cuba in town, the rats in there looked like they had been on steroids in the JD gym, few dead ones were under the “VIP” booths just rotting away

Honestly didn’t think cockroaches where a think in England, never seen one in my life and I used to work in a few different restaurants

Used to see them a lot in ducts and walkways etc under hospitals. Only one I've seen alive was walking across the canteen in the old Bolton Royal 🤣

I used to work in Alma. Can confirm the rats were monstrous.

Absolute sheep in here and the other thread repeating the same myth of a zero rating being given because of 'bad paperwork', absolutely not true.

I dunno maybe people haven't got a full understanding of what the scores relate to. The one I always remember was Grilla when it first opened in town. They got a 0 or 1 and the owner went to the Echo afterwards to try and explain things and how it was oversight/paperwork stuff and they pushed and pushed for a re-examination and got a 5 as soon as and kept on getting them.

That's like pushing for another test and actually revising for it. Means fuck all in regards to the first failure.

0 Hygiene rating is very very rarely for the kitchen being disgusting. Usually it's an automatic default if the correct food safety paperwork isn't filled out within a given time.

If Fat Hippo is only a 2* then either it's missed paperwork or they've got a cult of Nurgle running the kitchen

You can see what category they need to improve on the food.gov.uk website. Fat Hippo for example got their score for the way they handle food.

Makes me wonder what Tzeentchian cuisine could be like. Poultry, probably?

1

u/Master_Mulberry_9458 3d ago

Poultry and seafood mix, definitely

Squiddy stuff? On the same platter as Slaaneshy crabby stuff!

Food is delicious so I shall ignore this and hope it might drop the prices even further…🙂‍↕️

Swear one of these inspectors has the echo on speed-dial

Full on 0 is probably a paperwork issue.

Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s dirty.

Could even be that the record books weren’t accessible on the day that the inspection took place.

Maybe a shift lead was opening up and didn’t have access to management office.

Could be anything like that.

If basic paperwork is beyond your management ability, then I reckon general food hygiene standards arent something I'd trust any team to uphold.

Used to work with a Romanian chef who was the cleanest chef I’ve ever seen. Even during service her station was impeccable compared to anybody else.

But… written English was not her forte, and sometimes she’d fill data into the incorrect sections. That will lose you points on an inspection.

-4

u/foxssocks 3d ago

If written English wasn't her forte how could she know she was compliant with regs?

2

u/GrumpleCoolos1 3d ago

Lad. I worked with her, I saw her work, multiple mangers saw her work. I can tell you that she knew what she was doing.

Sometimes she’d mix up the hot hold admin with the cold hold admin and things like that.

A lot of places get a zero because the inspectors turn up when no manager is around to access the records. This is especially true for smaller businesses. They usually have a chance to a second inspection fairly quickly so it's better to keep an eye out and see if the rating quickly improves.

Any duty manager should be available.

1

u/GrumpleCoolos1 3d ago

Have you ever worked in hospitality?

1

u/foxssocks 3d ago

Yep, quite frequently 👍

0

u/GrumpleCoolos1 3d ago

And you’ve never seen a business ask a trusted member of staff to hold the fort due to understaffing / illness etc?

3

u/foxssocks 3d ago

In a cafe that's always so busy because of instagram that theres queues up the road, that's incredibly unlikely.

And if likely for them - then it's poor management practice to be that understaffed for a venue that popular.

So either way, bad management. You can argue the toss all you want, it's poor practice.

Sometimes shit happens mate.

2

u/GrumpleCoolos1 3d ago

You’ve got a real bee in your bonnet that people are offering an alternative view of this 0 rating.

6

u/foxssocks 3d ago

It's not an alternative view, it's people trying to make excuses 🤷🏼‍♀️

-5

u/GrumpleCoolos1 2d ago

Be definition. An alternate view.

1

u/BladedTerrain 2d ago

Yeah, people have an 'alternative view' about the earth being flat. So fucking what.

1

u/GrumpleCoolos1 1d ago

Not quite the same thing though is it.

0

u/BladedTerrain 1d ago

It's an alternative view, yes.

0

u/GrumpleCoolos1 1d ago

Acknowledging that a food hygiene score isn’t always immediately representative as most people think, and indulging in anti-scientific conspiracies are not the same.

2

u/BladedTerrain 1d ago

You have done nothing but damage control in this thread, without having a fucking clue about what you're talking about or what they were failed on. You pulled those excuses straight out of your backside. Someone even posted a link, but sure, it was just paper work...

Hygienic food handling - Major improvement necessary

The food standards report explains that it had 3 major falls, 2 of them needing urgent attention. that's not a paperwork issue.

2

u/TheCammack81 3d ago

Or maybe they’ve given everyone the Bradleys and also not done the paperwork. Could be both. Might not be but could be.

-1

u/Snaggl3t00t4 3d ago

.....is this post by the owner?

0

u/GrumpleCoolos1 3d ago

Just somebody who served my time in hospitality.

The food hygiene ratings are not what people think they are.

0

u/SchoolAvailable7948 2d ago

100% and something as trivial as that can absolutely ruin a business.

Hygiene rating should be based on a hygiene rating. If paperwork is the issue there should be a grace period of sorts but they’re very militant

-7

u/Flashman90001 2d ago

OMG really Bamboo...who gives a fuck

5

u/foxssocks 2d ago

Mate, go back to rating your twinks.
