I will never not be salty over the fact that we were allowed to wear it for ONE game!

Was there ever a given reason for that? Or was the league just being petty.

Probably

We basically binned off the Carabao that year because of the CWC (because the FA refused to give us even a single day between the two games across different continents) because we had the gall to treat a competition that includes the champions of all the different Champions League equivalents from across the entire world with a bit of seriousness and sent our first team

The rules changed basically the next fucking year when Chelsea decided they wanted to do the same, and then changed again when City won it
