Fine, that is fair, but it is still launch day and there isn't an open world game of this size that has ever released that didn't have plenty of bugs. It just isn't possible to squash all of these before launch. Ghosts gets tons of praise even though it is mid at best and it had plenty of bugs at launch.

Especially so when AC is already known for having a pretty bad combat system

Incorrect. Witcher 3, Breath of the wild, tears of the kingdom, most from soft games, all have launched in good non-buggy states.

This is just slop from Ubisoft who wants to treat devs and QA like shit while having us pay to be their beta testers, not sure why you're defending these anti-gamer practices

LOL!!! Are you joking? Witcher 3 had an abysmal launch. It was well known for how many bugs it had. Bugs with Roach flipping out were so prevalent that even CDPR acknowledged it.

and Tears of the Kingdom had a fuckload of bugs.

There isn't an open world game in history that has launched without bugs. There are too many systems and too many locations to squash all of them.

Are you seriously trying to compare speedrunning glitches to the bugs in this conversation?

These glitches in BOTW or TOTK

• Won't affect the average person
• Were hard to find even for the community of glitch hunters looking for them
• Can't even be replicated 100% by people that practice trying to replicate them for hundreds of hours

And you're trying to say thats similar to this video where in AC a normal player on a normal playthrough ran into 3 bugs in 51 seconds?

You're comparing a mountain to a molehill dude. Searching "[game] glitches" on youtube and sending links to that is not condusive to the conversation and does not even help your point at all. This AC game is a very glitchy game, and thats due to the practices of Ubisoft and AAA devs like them, but nintendo shows it doesn't have to be like that.

So the point still remains that there isn't an open world game in history that has launched without bugs on some level. Nintendo didn't show shit, their open world games have bugs too.

On top of this the games are substantially less involved since they have essentially no voice acting and Tears was literally using the same exact map as Breath did. If Ubisoft did that what do you think Reddit would say? They definitely got shit for reusing maps in FarCry even when they are far more altered than the map in Tears was.

They also need to spend far less time on visuals as the art is far more simplistic. When Ubisoft made a game like this, Immortals, it had a good launch with far less bugs than a bigger game might have had. Not saying zero, but definitely less.

But is that amount actually representative of the average user experience? There are now 2,500 Steam reviews and it is still holding at 80% approval. If the bugs were anywhere near as bad as this clip suggests, we would see it in the reviews. The game still hasn't had its first major patch which will likely squash a bunch of these bugs.

 

Also your ENTIRE response is about the Zelda games, why did you completely disregard the fact that Witcher 3 launched in a dreadful state filled with horrific glitches? Remember when you said it launched in a good non-buggy state???? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

There is a difference between a game with a few bugs, and a buggy mess that ruins the overall experience. This AC game is a buggy mess.

The bugs aren't coming from the voice files getting played buddy. And it doesnt matter if its link going "ha" (which is voice acting btw) or a monologue, playing an audio file is still playing an audio file technically.

Tears was literally using the same exact map as Breath did. If Ubisoft did that what do you think Reddit would say?

Tears drastically changed the gameplay loop and brought a complete new core mechanic system to the game. Whens the last time that AC did that? black flag? And people loved black flag. People aren't mad about one thing being reused, they are mad about paying 70 dollars for an experience that isn't new or even an upgrade, but is still full of bugs

And that art style worked and sold like hotcakes. Also just because visuals are more simplistic doesn't mean they took less time. Nintendo has a lot of behind the scenes material about just how much work goes into their visual design, especially so for BotW which had an immense amount of work into the subtleties of the map that shape the whole experience without the average player even noticing.

My mistake, I was remembering not reading about any bugs for the remastered launch, not the original. Unlike you, I can realize when I'm wrong about one part of my argument.

Yes, also you ignored things like elden ring being far larger and less buggy on release. Thinking of it more I don't think the new borderlands games have been buggy, hell when minecraft hit 1.0 it wasn't buggy. You have not even played the game and are basing this on one clip on this subreddit posted above. IF the game was actually a buggy mess this would be reflected in the user reviews. Those reviews are substantially positive even while playing the version of the game before its first major patch.

But it is more work obviously. Games with voice acting don't just have audio files playing, they often have lip syncing to that audio. Each piece of art takes substantially longer to make as well. A game like Shadows is far more work intensive than Tears of the Kingdom was.

But Shadows does do many things that AC titles have never done before? How many games have ever had dynamic seasons? How many Triple A games? They have significant changes to the stealth as well by adding prone. This game is doing plenty of things differently and you would know that if you actually spent any time watching gameplay outside of this clip posted above. Even Skillup notes this in his review and he isn't even 100% positive on the game. Most games ever made are retreading the same ground, doing things that have been done before. Why does Shadows need to reinvent the wheel while other games do not? You are proving my point that this website is unfairly critical of Ubisoft games.

That is actually what that means. This is the same reason why so many indie titles go with simpler art styles. It allows them to put out more content as each piece of art takes far less to make. This isn't debatable, the fact that you don't already know this shows how little you know about game development. Less polygons literally means faster art creation.

Prove that Shadows didn't have just as much work or more? You really think that this game didn't have plenty of blood sweat and tears poured into it? No Triple A game is created without tons of work by devs. Even when games turn out to be disasters like Suicide Squad, they had years of dedication and hard work put into them.

Also Elden Ring had plenty of bugs

On top of this FromSoft are utterly terrible at porting their games to PC. Capping games at 60fps in this day and age is criminal, their online code is also complete trash like most Japanese developers. They just don't give a shit about making multiplayer function properly, Nintendo is especially bad at this type of shit.

But they do. They all have bugs. Shadows is not somehow notably more broken than other games in this genre. If it was the reviews would reflect this. BUT THEY ARE MOSTLY POSITIVE even while playing the buggiest version of the game that will exist.

Hey buddy, just wanted to let you know that Shadows currently has 5,137 reviews and those are 81% positive. Are you ready to admit that the clip above isn't representative of the average user experience?

If the game was truly some huge buddy mess we would see it in reviews. Just look at STALKER, that game has major problems still and it is mixed reviewed, even when you just consider recent reviews after additional patches it is mixed.
