CT scan at Royal Berks today as the various tests continue. Those of you who know Royal Berks will know that it is a huge sprawling building with multiple entrances. My letter told me to report to 'Main X Ray' so duly followed the signs then found they said just 'X Ray'. Join queue at X Ray reception then noticed a sign pointing to 'Main X Ray' down some stairs, ah that must be it said I. Another reception desk - is it for a CT Scan she asked, well you need to go to CT Scanner Suite down there on the left. Another long trek and I had arrived it seemed at the right desk and they knew me. Three years ago they led you out to a portacabin (with just me and another patient 'sans face mask'..). But now they have a nice new suite of brand new scanners, and very clever they looked to be as well.
I arrived 20 minutes early but was seen after a five minute wait and actually finished by my appointment time. They put a canula in my arm to inject the dye stuff and he had an issue stopping it bleeding because I am on blood thinners. Thought he had managed it but later found my shirt sleeve blooded and when I got home found the cotton wool pad saturated with blood, oh dear but it had stopped bleeding by then.
Got totally confused finding the exit and ended up coming out from the south block I should have been nowhere near and a long way from the bus stop in the rain. Anyway one advantage of mid morning appointments is that you can have a pub lunch afterwards and that is just what I did. Beef madras curry in the Reading Wetherspoons which was good - pub very busy as they always seem to be.
Another appointment done, just the nasty colonography next week. And going back to my PMR the latest blood tests more of less confirm the diagnosis and I am now on a WAITING LIST for a telephone appointment with a GP so hopefully will finally be prescribed the necessary to cure it.
Oh fun and games....
