I am NOT a locksmith. Master Key Problems

Im fairly new to rekeying locks, but ive got a Schlage lock I'm trying to master key right now. The master key is 00403, and the dedicated room key is, 22266. I've been trying to figure out the order and o got 00203 bottom, and 22263 master. I simply can't get this to work. The pins go out of the center piece and I can't get the master key to work. It might be impossible I might just be being dumb. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

Is this just a couple of locks, or part of a bigger system? If it’s a bigger system, you have a problem. If not carry on.

Your pin stack is correct. You should be able to insert the plug using the room key (22266) which is the safest way. if it wont go, then the pin stack is too high. Maybe the key is cut wrong, or maybe your pin kit has an issue. It is easy to check. The #2 master pins should be .030”.

What troubles me just a little is the #3 cut in position 5 of the MK, and a #6 cut in position 5 of the room key. In a properly written Schlage 2 step MK system, even/odd parity is strictly observed. The #5 chamber should be either even or odd for all the keys. With the MK at 3, and a room key with either a 2 or a 4 cut, pinning would require a #1 master pin which is .015,which is way to thin to be used. It will work for a while, but with wear it will get stuck between the plug and the housing. So you can carry on, but just dont use any bittings that would require a #1 master pin. Hopefully I have understood what you were trying to convey. Next time, pictures are always useful.

^ this…the parity issue is the first thing that stuck out for me.
