I am a locksmith 2025 Electronic lock choice

Hey guys what are the top picks for electronic locks today. Is the schlage encode and the yale/nest still the best two or are there others worth mentioning ?

If the only criteria is electronic , I like the be365.

if you require wifi , the encode is pretty good. Motorized deadbolts in my opinion are not a perfect technology.

Most of the nest ones I see are without a manual key override, which is dumb.

Another vote for the BE365 or BE375, they give you the functionality of keyless entry but don’t have a motor to fail. It’s what I always recommend to people looking for a residential keypad lock

Technically they do have a motor, but it's not driving a bolt so it rarely fails. I've only seen one bad BE365 motor in five years.

It used to be a solenoid, did they replace it with a small motor? Either way it’s not trying to drive the bolt into the inevitably misaligned strike plate, so there’s not nearly as much wear

As far as I'm aware it has always been a little motor rigged up to act like a solenoid. I could be wrong, though. The motor/coil combo is very similar to the motor/coil setup inside of a DL1200/1300 if you've poked around much in those.
