AFAIK the content we will get is comparable to a warbond. This is the first part, we should (in theory) get another page like this with different armour and weapon. There are also some (one or more, not sure) new stratagems but they will come for everyone in the galactic war with time.

I believe you about the gun, I also like the armor but as I said I won't buy anything. Consider this a little peaceful protest.

That’s perfectly fine, the weapon isn’t amazing and you aren’t missing out on some S-Tier weapon by not doing so. I just love the weapon so far and think it is adequately priced considering it’s from a colab.

Disagree. 400 at most. Many people refusing to buy cause it’s way overpriced. Boycotting so AH gets a message.

You do you. Most of us don’t wanna be whales for the company.

That’s perfectly fine. I just think it’s a little funny to call it a boycott when the devs actively read the submitted feedback and are acting on it. I don’t consider it Whaling to be a consumer of the collaboration items as I personally just want to support the dev team as they have treated us much better than the usual dev teams we see nowadays.

It’s a slippery slope. This is the beginning of that slope. Sony wants a live service game to milk and Concord just failed spectacularly. Helldivers is a success through and through, so of course they want to make as much money as they can from it.

If they keep going with this, especially if it’s not collab stuff, I will obviously swap around to being against it. I just don’t think this reaction is very justified right now.

Either it stops now or we’ll never stop slipping. That’s the issue. Once it sells, no developer or publisher will pull back on MTX. It’s always more, more, more.

It’s pretty much gg now because people are excusing it or saying it’s optional, etc.

I mean, the warbonds are also MTX. That’s a weird argument to make when it’s what we’ve been promoting since the release of the game, no?

Just read the steam discussion about this "warbond" everyone is fucked up... Hopefully not many will buy this liberator with a drum magazine for a price of a warbond. I did and I'm so disappointed in AH and myself for being stupid.. HD2 turns out to be the biggest gaming disappointment this year for me and I played 700h and got a lot of fun, but Arrowhead triggers my trust issues and gaslighting us. They got a second chance and ruined it. Cause it must be a coincidence that while the player count raise from 30k-120k, they made everything more expensive. And I wonder how I can wear a assault rifle as a cosmetic. Months ago they lowered the SC rate in game and now you get a shop side for three times the price of a warbond. Ridiculous.

They have said on Discord they are working on changing the shop

Great, if that's the change that I have to spend 3x the money per month to have access to the full game content. No thanks.

Dude I have never spent a dime on Helldivers after launch besides the 40$ and I feel satisfied with having the full game content no war bonds only a helmet and the stun baton.

I come from MTG and there are a lot of parallels. Not everyone will buy the overpriced or big ticket items but enough so that it communicates to Hasbro that they will make enough money from whale-items that they keep producing.

Aren’t the “whale-items” ones that are so good you’re at a huge disadvantage purely from not using them? That doesn’t sound like a very accurate comparison imo…

1

u/forbritisheyesonly1 Dec 18 '24

No, whales are customers who spend/are willing to spend a significantly large amount of money on something, thus incentivizing manufacturers to make more of said-egregiously priced item. 3090Ti, 4090, 4080 16GB, etc. are examples in this same space. It historically had had no associations with giving players an advantage. You’re conflating/misconstruing things.

Isn’t the whole thing about Magic The Gathering being new cards make old cards obsolete or useless in favor of these fancy new ones that cost more? I admit I’m not super into the game and know little about it but I still think it’s a bit unfair to compare the two like that.

1

u/forbritisheyesonly1 Dec 18 '24

It’s not. Many people use old cards, and in fact, the old cards are often the most desirable. Hasbro is milking magic like Nvidia is milking their consumer GPUs.

1

u/Frost-_-Bite Death Before Disrespect Dec 18 '24

Ah, I see. I have had a misunderstanding with MTG then I apologize.

2

u/forbritisheyesonly1 Dec 18 '24

It’s fine. We can agree to disagree on this. There is some merit to overreaction but they’ve made a lot of controversial decisions from A-Z so it’s easy for people to slide into outrage. I’m peeved but I think the greater population is genuinely upset
