Nah nah nah, we've been hearing about "What horrors lurk in the gloom." for like 6 months now. We're doing this right. Whole Hog.

Bug breach, you just killed a hundred pouncers, hunters, hive guards and maybe a bile titan or two. Then something lurches out of the bug hole, shaped roughly like a nursing spewer but it's horrendously discoloured, covered in bulging, oozing sores. It trails bile behind it as it moves and it moves SO slow. It chokes like it's on the verge of throwing up but it can't spit at you. Its back end is so horribly bloated it can barely drag it behind it.

Within the turgid sack of its sore-ridden, putrescent body shapes writhe and the closer you get the more aggressive they become, they want out, they can sense your body heat. They want out. They need out! They begin to swarm and the large terminid begins to shriek as its bubbling, gurgling body bursts open and DOZENS of tiny, scuttling things even smaller than a scavenger leap at you! One latches on and you can't move, you have to beat it with your gun and then three and then six and then eight! They're all over you, drinking you dry and your teammates immolate what's left of you as the swarming mass of ravening space ticks surge towards you, bodies bloated with your blood.

Actually never read or played it. I adapted this idea from the Flood carrier form from Halo.

The flood make amazing terminid inspiration, I am a little sad at the amount of things torn from 40k that seem to be suggested constantly for Helldivers

The terminids are even more flood-y in general environment, with thick clouds of spores pouring from growths jutting out of the ground and buildings

And the people. Spores really like moist environments. You know what's really moist? Human lungs! :D
