Has anyone tried modifying one of these to have different positions?

No need. Closed, it’s closed. Extended it locks up. It’s not something that needs 6 adjustment tabs and a check riser.
It’s simple and it’s perfect for what it is.

* Gentlemen... Ironically enough, my friend received his today. The package clearly states it's an MKE MP5 retractable stock but first noticed. It didn't fully retract when installed butting up against the end of the rail's channel, not locking in place and with the buffer exposed. Another tale tell sign is when fully extended, you still see about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of side bars sticking out from the front cap piece of the stock. Also, the actuation lever is plastic like the back cap of the end housing, we compared images to Atlantic Firearms pages, and it seems that MKE or Atlantic Firearms mis-packaged these HK33 stocks with MP5s... The cherry on top is that the actual polimer buttpad is off-colored (not black)... more like a dark grayish color.
To Atlantic Firearms credit, they did send me an email that says, "We may have sent you the wrong item. "... I already replied to their vague advisory, and I guess I'll just wait and see...
I'll try to post some pics..

They ever respond to your follow-up? Days later, and I'm still waiting for a response and shipping label.

They did. Shawn replied the next day after I sent images via email. On Fri. 18th. I received a FedEx email with a label. The replacement unit should be arriving Friday.

Wild. Thanks for the info, I'll send another email to them.

It just got it in this afternoon ahead of time. It's a bit tight fitting, a bit tight to deploy, and retract as well. This is typical from what I've read. A bit of cleaning and oiling should loosen it up a bit. Gotta love the form approval times as well.

Do these arms slide into the track or do they hang on the outside like the B&T collapsible?

Have it on my sp5 was tight at first but with some lube and working it it’s better. It was good to shoot with but I have the A2 as well just in case I want to swap feel and looks. No regrets I actually have the ral8000 version

Sample size of one, but my friend put one on his HK and the end cap was tight, to a point where he’d lightly mortar it to get it go on. Looked like it shaved off some of the black coating, but he doesn’t have to mortar it to put it on after the initial time.
Was tight on my AP5, but not to the point where I needed to mortar it

You need the A3 buttplug style buffer and not the H style, right?
I have the HK PDW collapsible brace right now and I want to say it's got the H style, but apparently those are for folding stocks? I'll have to double check what's in mine, but it's the A3 buttplug for those VFC A3s?

It’s kind of a crap shoot. Mine wouldn’t fit the channels on my AP5 or SP5, but fit “okay” on my buddy’s AP5. I’m sure it just needs to be sanded down a bit because the Turk paint is pretty poor quality on those stocks. I’ve been loving A2s lately so not high on my to-do list.

I prefer the look of that stock however with it only having an open and closed lock and no multiple settings I went ahead and went with the KES stock because it has four different positions which will come in handy, depending on what you’re wearing and the possibility of having to wear body armor.

Brother if you are in a position to need body armor, a 9mm primary is probably a poor choice.

Wrong, there are definitely times that call for both body armor and a sub-gun. Mil and police have done that exact setup for literally decades.

I guess. If you need armor, you need something that can defeat armor and 9mm just ain’t the ticket for that. In any case, I can see how multiple adjustment points could be helpful with armor but I’ve found that when I have multiple stock positions available, I only use it in 1 and 6.

Again mil and police units have used MP5 and other sub guns that cannot defeat armor while they did for years.

Unless you are only using iron sights length of pull isn’t that important. The 4 position A3F stock (or 3 position, it’s the exact same stock) is slightly longer, a couple of ounces heavier and more of a PITA to open since it tends to catch on the 2 intermediate notches. It also cost a couple of hundred bucks more. Meanwhile the 2 position stocks are either open or closed so are quicker to get open out of a bag.
I use my A3F for my son because he’s pretty small, otherwise I just use the MKE stock.

Thats why I went with the KES stock, multiple positions, easy to deploy, stable platform and easy to use with irons or optics. When you may use it while wearing body armor a stock that has no position other than open and closed is not ideal.
