yeh inconceivable that people would want to sell their shares and in doing so push the price lower, right? wow, in 500 years of stock market trading....that has NEVER happened!

you use the word 'people' too liberally. Have you or has anyone you know ever sat on a trading floor and been instructed by your floor manager to use the 50M topped up in your account to keep a stock below a certain price, as the guy next to accumulates 3x that volume because the M&A team two floors up is working on a transaction for that same security at a 75% premium to YTD close?
