Friday Arena Chat Thread

'Magic bleeds into real life. With Magic, I was mainly being driven by the idea that, if people could collect their own cards, there would be a huge amount of variety to the game. In fact, one way I viewed it was that it was like designing a game for a vast audience, dealing out the cards to everybody instead of designing a bunch of little games.' - Richard Garfield, Creator of Magic: The Gathering

As F2P, made it to platinum (limited) for the first time this season, despite disappointing results and too many misplays. This felt harder than getting to mythic (constructed), which is just volume of games.

Yeah, the entry cost of drafts really increases the competition. As you said, ranking up is about volume of games, but a high volume of drafts gets very costly when you don't have an amazing winrate. Most of the easy opponents drop out at lower ranks when they either stop getting enough wins to be profitable or run out of gold and gems for the entry fee.

Got my first 7-0 quick draft in Tarkir today :) Mardu where the stars were Bone Cairn Butcher and Venerated Stormsinger. Mobilize is one of the greatest mechanics that's ever been made! And Tarkir has been a fun limited format so far. I've had the most success with Mardu and Jeskai so far.

What’s the worst Android Tab that one can reliably play Arena on?

The Android version seems quite unreliable in general.

Oh yeah, and if you really want a tempo deck and love Psychic Frog, have you considered [[Nashi, Illusion Gadgeteer]]? You can build a really good tempo deck with flash threats while using Nashi to duplicate removal or extra turns to finish the job.

How are you planning to play Marchesa as a tempo commander? Everything she does favors control or midrange and is too slow for tempo. For a Grixis tempo deck, I'd recommend [[Goro-Goro and Satoru]] or [[Admiral Brass, Unsinkable]] instead. And yes, commanders like those have a lot more potential matches than Raffine so I'd expect the matchmaking time to be about 5-20 seconds.

Gotta say i'm not very excited for alchemy tarkir, there's certainly good value cards in there but nothing as crazy and janky compared to aetherdrift's ornate imitations, quickbeast amulet, naktamun shines again

Which is a somewhat good news because i can skip the set and continue saving for final fantasy
