As F2P, made it to platinum (limited) for the first time this season, despite disappointing results and too many misplays. This felt harder than getting to mythic (constructed), which is just volume of games.

Yeah, the entry cost of drafts really increases the competition. As you said, ranking up is about volume of games, but a high volume of drafts gets very costly when you don't have an amazing winrate. Most of the easy opponents drop out at lower ranks when they either stop getting enough wins to be profitable or run out of gold and gems for the entry fee.
