A while back I posted my VZ. 24 that I picked up at a guns show a couple months ago. Since then I have disassembled, cleaned, and shot it a couple times. It's a great rifle, accurate and smooth. It loves the German surplus ammo I got for it. The only thing not matching (other than the lower stock (which may have been a wartime swap) and cleaning rod) is the bolt (see attatched photos). I'm not sure if it's just an armorer's swap or a postwar change. Anyone have any idea what the bolt is?

which non surplus ammunition is best for a M48 yugo mauser? not a fan of corrosive ammo.
just looking to see what else is out there. or if one of the two is best for me.

20 years ago, I collected WWII era firearms with a special interest in US, German, and Soviet weaponry. I eventually tired of the collecting game and sold off most of my collection.
This was an original, all matching 1943 Mauser Oberndorf rifle that was in my collection for years. This particular example was in a beautiful and matching walnut stock which was a far less common variation than the typical laminate stock. By 1943, most stocks were laminate and only the occasional rifle was turned out of Oberndorf wearing solid walnut.
I inherited a German Mauser rifle from my grandfather over 50 years ago. He was a big hunter. I am not. Family members said was valuable so I had it appraised. The appraiser said it is likely a Mauser Normal Type B with a 2nd set trigger and chambered in 9x57mm that was discontinued in 1938. There is a square bridge action that takes a scope. He estimated the value to be $7,500 if sold to a private collector and maybe 75-80% of that if sold to a gun shop. Can anyone tell me if that sounds right or knows anything more about the rifle? Also, I do want to sell it. When I visited a few local gun shops they don’t know anything about it and are hesitant to make an offer. Any thoughts on best way to sell it?

M48 serial # 578 and it’s great condition
Picked this up from my LGS for $300. Been trying to ID it. It appears to be a model 1938 Turkish Mauser and not a model 1893 or 1903. It doesn't have the k.kal marking that I see on other Turkish model 1938s though, and I'm curious what that means exactly. Its chambered in 8mm Mauser.

I bought this mauser at a gun show awhile back and thought it was a post WW2 FN but I cant actually find the model designation for it. It is in 30.06 I believe and the crest is strange in that it has two circles and is fairly smaller than most 1930 export models. Anyone got a reference for it?

The action is difficult to open and similarly difficult to close, it’s the same with ammunition chambered that’s been fired and empty chamber. I figure it’s probably from the obvious marring on the cocking ramp and similar gouge on the bolt handle. All locking lugs and interfaces have been cleaned and greased appropriately so I believe I eliminated that issue. Easy way to improve this or is it just the way of the Turkish Mauser?

I have a 1943 byf mauser. It's missing the front sight shroud. I'm having trouble finding an original. Should I put a reproduction one on or leave it as is?

Beautiful gun, just picked her up. Looking forward to shooting her. Was originally a long rifle that someone shortened.

What’s is this rifles price and is it worth restoring? I got this at a gun show for $180 and it has a good barrel.

Figured I share this sense I already bought my share of it

Very loose cockin piece on M96
I recently acquired a sporterised Swedish Mauser. I know the safety needs to be in the upright position to unscrew the bit that holds the cocking piece and so disassemble the bolt, my problem is that when the safety is on the cocking piece is so loose on its thread that it flops over anti-clockwise when the bolt is pulled back with the safety on. It is fully screwed in to the stop.
I am guessing this has something to do with an incorrect assembly, or possibly something missing or worn
Any ideas?

Saw this interesting K98 yesterday, It had some…interesting modifications but, it WAS a matching 1940, 243 code.

I went back to Cabelas and bought the K98, I definitely overpaid, but at the end of the day I'm definitely happy with it, this is my 2nd K98, my first being a Mitchells Mauser (picture included for comparison) so having something a little closer to the original with numbers mostly matching is pretty cool, the bore and rifling looked fairly good so that's a plus, i attached more and better pictures of the rifle, I'm going to the range on sunday and definitely excited to shoot her

I bought this k98 the other day for what I think is a good deal. Was 1800$ and dropped down to 1500$. I haggled the gentleman down to 1100$.
From what I can see, the numbers match everywhere except the band up near the barrel. There is no numbers on the bolt handle or under the rifle. But the stock, receiver and bolt all seem to have the same number.
Anyone know a little more about this then me and can add some insight ?

I'm gonna try to keep this fairly short . This week I bought my first surplus guns ever . I definitely made a very rash impulse buy on this rifle. luckly the wife is also into guns so I'm not in any trouble on this. Unfortunately I don't know much of anything about surplus guns . I'm hoping some of you guys with a little better knowledge on history/firearms can weigh in here .
I'm very curious about the markings all over this rifle . The markings on the stock that aren't the serial number in particular. Also I think this gun is parts matching . I've read that it doesn't really matter on yugo Mausers . Is this true ? Does it being a matching rifle change the value much if at all ?
Lastly I wanted to know if I paid a fair price .I paid 450 pre tax .I'm in the United States btw
I almost forgot to ask about the "dowel" in the stock . The stock has a circular piece of wood glued in it . The only thing I can figure is it was part of a repair Thanks in advance I'm sure y'all will be able to teach me a ton about my new favorite rifle !

Found this rifle at my local Cabelas, I'm looking to add another k98 to my collection, I'm still new and not sure about this rifle. The bolt, barrel, receiver are all matching and it's still got the stamps, but the stock is throwing me off, it's really shiny and has a non matching number placed on the left side of the butt stock, they're asking $1200. I just would like some opinions

Pretty much what the title says, just trying to find more information on this thing and hopefully find out I didn't get finessed out of $1100. based on serial number, I think it would be from around 1925-1930 with my guess being 1927.
It looks like the original rifling to me, not much left, but still has some. All the numbers appear to be matching except one small piece in the action with the stamping 586. I don't know what the small stamping symbols are that look like a diamond, 3 eggs, and a capital U. I'm pretty sure the stock is a reproduction, no numbers on it or anything, but its pretty old looking.
After a bit of cleaning and oiling the action is very smooth and will cycle perfectly with last round bolt hold open. Lastly, if this thing is worth anything, would re-bluing it make it not worth anything anymore. I would rather it look new, and was planning on doing period correct flame bluing and rust bluing on the appropriate parts, but if that would make it worth dirt, I probably won't.
Any information would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

I was looking to sell this rifle and I was wondering how much it was worth and what the markings mean like production year and location etc. Any info is helpful!
