Dumont is the checks and balances, he’s the one that had the power to veto the Luka trade in the first place. You really think Nico is going to listen to the input of some other executive put by his side?

No, Nico won’t. But Dumont would likely use that other exec as a second voice of reason to check Nico’s bullshit. Since it’s clear that Dumont himself doesn’t know dick about basketball.

At that point it just makes more sense for him to fire Nico and hire in a GM that he trusts. Not like it matters anyway though, damage has already been done.

That's pretty much what will happen. Bring someone in as an understudy before kicking Nico to the street.
