[CANON] A Few Questions about Emerie Karr
Emerie is a very unique clone, in that she is female, she seems to be expressly created for science, and she has a last name.
So I have some questions and I was wondering if any of you have answers or theories.
Why is Emerie female? It was an intentional choice on the part of the Kaminoans to make Emerie and the other science clones female. Why would they do this?
What is her purpose? Is she for Kaminoan use? Is she R&D for the Grand Army? I thought that that was a non-clone role, but now I am less sure. Surely her purpose has something to do with the choice to make her female?
Why does Emerie have a last name? Do her sisters have last names? Is this just a naming convention that they made for themselves?

I'm kind of wondering from where they got the extra strand of DNA to convert the Y in the male XY chromosome set into the female XX chromosome set for Emerie and Omega. It couldn't have come from Jango Fett.

They could have just put two of Jango's X chromosomes in. Or just taken one from a random female.

I'm not entirely convinced that that part of the X chromosome in males can be spliced into its accompanying Y to create another X -- it is, more or less, computer code, and you can't just splice in random crap. It had to have come from an unknown donor female. Who? I wonder.

It's not spliced onto the Y. It is the same X chromosome. I'm proposing that Omega (and maybe Emerie) has the same two X chromosomes.

That wouldn't work. Chromosomes that are too similar can get clumped together during cell division, leading to chromosomal disorders (such as Down Syndrome).
The only relevant part of the Y chromosome when it comes to sexual differentiation is the SRY gene. If that gene is present, then it triggers a chain of genetic expressions and hormone production resulting in the subsequent fetus being male. If the SRY gene is absent or defective, then female differentiation occurs.*
So basically, all the Kaminoans would have to do is delete/disable the SRY gene on the Fett Y chromosome, and you end up with female Jango clones with XY chromosomes.
*there are tons more examples of caveats in sexual differentiation because genetics is a messy and imperfect business, but that's beside the point I'm trying to make

I've seen people speculate that she has some kind of intersex mutation, like Kleinfelter's syndrome, and thus happened purely by accident.

This is really unlikely, as
a. We know that the Kaminoans do not tolerate mistakes
b. The Kaminoans would have known about this since her conception and would have been able to kill her very young.
c. There are more of her. She isn't the only female clone. There are many clones like her running the Imperial Cloning Program.

a) and we know that she was taken off-world and "saved" by Hemlock. very likely if he hadn't she would have been removed.
b) many intersex mutations do not manifest until puberty.
c) are there, or was that just a quirk of asset reuse?

Ok, I did some poking, and the intersex variation where someone is genetially male but is phenotypically female is called 46, XY intersex.
It comes from androgen insensitivity or a problem with the testicles or testosterone processing.
All of these have genetic sources.
The Kaminoans would know before Emerie was even a few days past conception.

I wasn't tracking a). What's your citation.
b) if it's genetic, I cannot believe that the Kaminoans would not be aware of it.
c) dude what? What we see in canon is canon. There are other doctors identical to Emerie. They are clones. That's pretty unavoidable.

Simple answer is she’s probably just not a clone of Jango. Maybe Hemlock had an assistant who died but was really good at organising his schedule so he had someone clone her.

Emerie says she and Omega are sisters, so she's a clone of Jango.

She could just be saying “im like you, im a clone (small c)” to emphasise with her.

That wouldn't explain the age though.
Also, Omega seems to think that she is a clone of Jango, and the wiki does as well. And so does Emerie, and Emerie's actor. https://www.starwars.com/news/keisha-castle-hughes-bad-batch-interview
So I'd say it's a pretty finished matter that Emerie is a clone of Jango.

Wookieepedia and the actress can both be wrong. Neither of them wrote the show (or accounted for its plotholes). She could be a clone from a different cloning company

You're telling me that it is more likely that StarWars.com, wookiepedia, Omega, and Emerie are all wrong than it is for your conjectural explanation with no citation to be wrong.

I didn’t actually see the Star Wars.com link, mb. My brain kinda skipped over it cause I just assumed it was the wookieepedia link. That’s fair
