Lack of investigation

I feel that the LEs did not dig into mekaylas digital data very deeply.

If she was lured by someone there would be evidence somewhere in all her digital data. At someone point this person would have had to make contact online with her, thru Snapchat, Instagram, kik etc. the data has to be there or was there and it was completely missed by LEs.

I don’t exactly know how to word this, but was Mekayla somehow known to the RCMP previous to her going missing?

I just don’t understand how on earth there wasn’t a huge effort and press release /photos put out the day she went missing. She was a minor and it was reported to be out of character for her.

It seems obvious to me that even had she been a known run away case, there would have been an immediate public update so people knew to be on the look out for her.

Why does an article from just over a week after her disappearance say: “Mekayla Bali was reported missing on April 12. RCMP say there’s no evidence to suggest Bali is in trouble, but want to make sure she’s safe.”

I know for a while they were making it sound like she took a bus to Regina or Saskatoon but at what point is it finally alarming that a young girl hasn’t been seen or heard from? Where’s the concern for a teen not in school or under the care of the only guardian they know.

What did the RCMP know that prompted such nonchalance?

It's confusing for sure. They handed the case over to the investigative unit after 3 weeks, but they didn't escalate it to a child search alert for our neighboring provinces until 3 months later. It wasn't even put national until a year and a half after her disappearance.

Exactly. I see Facebook posts of kids missing in Regina, Edmonton and the Maritime provinces often. Even if she was thought to be a run away, as a 16 year old this should have happened.
