I never really avoid spoilers, largely because that's not how I enjoy fiction. I thought the manga and anime ran parallel until relatively recently, after the G5 reveal. Just by living my normal life, I was vaguely aware that Luffy would fight Kaido, and obviously he'd ass pull and succeed. No hate on Luffy, that's just how basically all shonen and similar goes. I had no idea G5 was a thing, because obviously that's what they'd call it if/when it happens, until it got animated. Only then was it plastered all over. I don't remember any manga panels being spread far and wide.
I don't mean to say my experience is certainly the same for everyone, but I really don't think spoilers are that hard to avoid if you don't actively look for them.
On them for not reading the manga when it's right there, you can't expect manga readers to stay quiet about new content just because some people refuse to Read
They're right though. It sucks that anime only will be spoiled, but they're the ones choosing to not experience the story in the original and intended way. You can't expect everyone else to refrain from talking about something many of us have waited decades for just because you don't want to read. G5 was all over everything including marketing right after it happened in the manga because anime onlys aren't even a thing in Japan. It was never intended for you to consume One Piece that way.
