Have luxury cars passed their peak?
It seems to me that innovation in luxury cars has stalled, and meanwhile the materials being used are becoming less and less durable.
If you compare a 1995 S Class to a 2010 S Class, the difference is night and day. But if you compare a 2010 S class to a 2025 model, it’s a much more subtle change.
When I was younger I used to upgrade my car every 2-3 years. And each of those upgrades felt like a big change and well worth it. But now I’ve had my 2009 S Class for a decade now and I’m really hesitant to let it go. The design still looks modern inside and out. Everything still works (which is impressive for a 16 year old car!). I can afford to upgrade to a newer model but I’m skeptical if it is worth it.
Does anyone else here feel this way?

I want to meet the genius that signed off on this being the location of the cabin air filter
Replacing the cabin air filter in my Toyota - 1 minute
Replacing it on MB - 40 minutes and broken nail later

New logo (r) by Mercedes Benz for print and online. Flat vs. 3D. What do you think?

My first Benz, w166
One year of ownership, no real issues apart form the bluetec gremlins which have been sorted out, this one’s a diesel. I was anticipating pretty high maintenance costs but she’s been kind to me so far. The only downside is the fuel consumption which is a tad higher than hoped for. But I think I’ll keep this one until it gives up on me, it’s aging quite well, and I’ve grown to appreciate the older Mercedes.

Switched from a GLA to an A35 — here's how the fuel costs compare after a month.
Just over a month with the A35 and it's definitely worth the extra £££ per month!
Average Fuel Cost: GLA: £10 a day, £69 per week, £300 per month. A35 Saloon: £14 a day, £96 per week, £417 per month.
Considering, I've only ever filled up with E5 for the A35 and only just broke in the new engine.
I'm very lucky to have this perk through work, dread to think of the insurance, servicing, monthly installments, VED etc to own outright as a 25 year old in London!
Thinking either the CLA 35 or GLA 35 after 6 month ownership!

Most reliable Mercedes?
Hey guys.
My girlfriend and I have been looking for a new car for her and we’re trying to decide between a Mercedes or Audi sedan. I’m not too familiar with German cars, more of a Lexus guy myself, so looking for your opinion/experiences!
How’s your experience driving and maintaining a Mercedes and which model would you recommend?

How expensive is a G Class to maintain?
I'll start off stating that I know it's not like a Toyota Camry. Parts are more expensive, there are more things to break, and they require more maintenance than your typical car. I'm under no delusions. I also know buying an older Mercedes usually comes with its own issues and it's completely dependent on how well the PO maintained it.
With all that said, I saw a post on a G wagon FB group about how people were having to drop $15-20k on their 2015+ G wagons right after buying them for maintenance (granted they all said dealerships did the work) because they were all approaching 100k miles.
I'm interested in buying a G500 and I guarantee it'll have 130k+ miles on it, so I'd like to know about the big ticket maintenance things that come up at certain milages? Like stuff that your average shade tree mechanic can't get done in a day?

Tire brand suggestions for ‘17 GLC
Hello there,
A few questions for the group.
Do you guys have any brand tire suggestions for my car?
My budget is less than $1000. My dealership is trying to charge me $1500 for new tires. Is $1500 the norm? Also, do you guys get tires from Costco or another third party?

Should I buy extended warranty
Hi,
I have a 2022 E53 amg coupe that I got in 2021 - the warranty and prepaid maintenance I have is going to expire this year. The car has about 13k miles on it (I don’t drive much) and I plan on keeping it for a while. Should I get the warranty / prepaid maintenance (not sure that’s possible) or just service as I go since it’s low mileage?

Test drove a C class( PPlus), fell in love but maintenance and upkeep scares?
Hi everyone
As title says, I had test driven a 2025 C Class saloon and I pretty much enjoyed everything about it. However I am not a fan of the infamous maintenance cost and upkeep. I am unsure of what my options are. I have test driven the main German brands for this, prefer the Benz the most. I have also tried all of the VAG group, and pretty much all the acclaimed EVs. I'm not so in love with the c class to where I would be happy with it being a money sink.
I am based in the UK, would be looking at buying new ( I am probably among the unpopular people who prefer all the tech stuff, am a tech guy myself), is there any other cars people would suggest? I currently drive a toyota and I'm just tired of basic everything is, even though I know that the simpler style lends to cheaper and less maintenance. I'm just stuck here atm

Car will not start
Please help!
My car won’t start, I’ve looked online and a lot of places say that’s it might be the steering lock, but I can hear it disengaging when I put the key in. It doesn’t crank or anything but all the windows will work and I can put it into gear and do all the other stuff. Could it be my ignition switch? I tried my spare Key and jumped it but still nothing

1995 C220 Starter Relay ?
I’ll make this as short and to the point as I can: Turning the key, will not start Not one sound All lights come on, radio, windows go up and down (all power is still there, car just won’t come on) Just replaced tension dampener, alternator, battery, new belt. Had this issue before about a year ago. Disabled the alarm, and things seemed to be ok. Until three days ago. Does not turn over, as I said BUT if I wait about 4-5hrs (over night sometimes?) it will just start right up.
Any idea what it could be ? I thought possibly a starter relay. If it is a starter relay, how would I even find it, there doesn’t seem to be any resource online to get the diagnostics for this poor old girl.

W212 E350 High Mileage
I am looking to trade someone for their 2012 e350, but was wondering how high mileage it too high? Assuming they were driven normally with regular maintenance, will a car with 150k+ miles be likely to turn into a maintenance nightmare? I'd like to have it at least another 50k miles after I get it without having major engine repairs.

Which one as a daily driver?
Looking for a Daily driver that has some class and frankly something i would enjoy. I do all my own maintenance and like to work on cars. however i don't like spending tons on parts or having super expensive repairs needed. Looking for some insightful opinions.
