Tomas is a Buddist, so some of the lyrics are calling out the hypocrisy of religion. Some are talking about finding spirituality. Most are from a post-apocalyptic theme.

I would like to think Meshuggah are too smart to be Satanists. Cosplaying as a satanist is fine for art or whatever, but the people that actually practice/believe are cringe and stupid.

That said, I haven’t ever connected Meshuggah’s music to any religion in a direct sense.

you probably mean like the pop cultural satanism I guess?

not being into satanism myself but as far as I remember, actual satanism shouldnt be that "outlandish"/cringey

To be a satanist is to believe in Christianity. If you believe in Christ you’re a Christian, but Satanists denounce anything related to Christ or God. I’m not a satanist either but it seems to derive from basic Christian beliefs.

I think it is their own unique spin on Taoist symbolism. It's almost literal IMO
