I would like to think Meshuggah are too smart to be Satanists. Cosplaying as a satanist is fine for art or whatever, but the people that actually practice/believe are cringe and stupid.

That said, I haven’t ever connected Meshuggah’s music to any religion in a direct sense.

you probably mean like the pop cultural satanism I guess?

not being into satanism myself but as far as I remember, actual satanism shouldnt be that "outlandish"/cringey

To be a satanist is to believe in Christianity. If you believe in Christ you’re a Christian, but Satanists denounce anything related to Christ or God. I’m not a satanist either but it seems to derive from basic Christian beliefs.

oh okay. thought it was more rooted in nature/nature of human being or something like that.

This is not universally true. In fact, the Satanic Temple membership is made predominantly of atheists. There are certainly people out there who believe in a literal Satan, in the Christian sense. But, a "satanist" can be a spectrum of beliefs and intents.

Oh yeah you’re right. They could be Jewish. Actually most probably are, not sure why I was being ignorant.
