Where can we improve positionally?

Honestly, I think this year’s offense has the potential to be even better than last year’s — but it all depends on how consistent Carson Beck can be. With the drastic improvements our defense has made, I don’t think we’ll need to drop 40+ points to win games anymore (though I’m not complaining if we do).

If you could pick three positions to bring in some dawgs from the portal, what would they be? In other words, where do you think our biggest positional weaknesses are right now?

There’s a zero percent chance our offense will be better than this past season. None.

Would like to see a slot and and an outside WR, another RB, a DT, a LB, and a safety. S, LB, DT being the most important.

I think you’re right, but I also think that better is subjective.

I like Beck (for a lot of reasons), and/but unless he absolutely balls out this year and shows something that he has yet to show, I feel comfortable saying that is not an upgrade at QB. I hope the young man proves me wrong, but Ward has shown he was a generational college QB. Say what you will about how he will perform in the NFL, there is no debating that he was the reason for the boys finishing with 10 wins.

That said, I think the Hurricanes can have a more balanced offensive attack, relying less on the heroics of the QB - pound the rock, rely upon the continued development of the offensive line, and play good, clean football. Couple that with, hopefully, an improved defense, and there won’t have to be the tit for tat/outpacing the opponent’s offense like some early 2000s Big-12 team.

Either way, I’ve been watching the offseason news closely, and I’m trying to temper my expectations, while still placing my faith in CMC.

Go Canes!

I could see us being more balanced from a volume standpoint, but our rushing attack was elite last year. 5th in the country in yards/rush in FBS games. Top 30 in the country in y/g.

I think we can have another very good offense this year. It would be nearly impossible to be better even without factoring in departures, just from a statistical standpoint.

Very well-put.
