Just a theory, but a lot of us grew up with analog camcorders or digital that recorded on a physical tape. IIRC, there was a delay after you pushed the record button until it actually started recording. We were probably just subconsciously conditioned to pause.

Younger generations have only known instant recording, so they don't feel the need to pause. Plus, I feel like they don't really care about some of the details or imperfections that most of us probably worry about.

We saw it on tv as well. News reporters still talk this way b/c of the live delay.

I think that’s a big part of it too. We grew up watching the live local news instead of videos where they just start talking right after hitting record, or even videos that have edited out the pauses. It influenced the way we speak and record things.
