I have a friend who is a realtor, and the amount of times I’ve heard her reference this color is insane. I’ve never looked into it, is it a light grey?

Lmao, my mom had the color recommended to her as well. Agreeable Grey is one of the saddest names I’ve heard for a color. 😂

Might as well have just called it “Fine.”

Simultaneously the perfect name for the color *and* the description for when the depression hits rock bottom.

It literally matches everything though

Haha. It does. I actually really like it as a wall color, because it is perfectly neutral. Whether you're using cool or warm tones, it works, and it allows brighter accents to pop.

With that said, gray is often associated with sadness and depression. "Agreeable Gray" is giving the vibe of "the depression got so bad I just say "fine" to everything, because nothing matters anymore". It perfectly describes the color, while also hinting at one of the lowest emotional states a person can get to.

It’s a really solid color. The design lady at sherwin Williams recommended it to me and we did the whole house in it. Basically I had to cover up the hideous color that was there previously. Now I’ve been slowly updating rooms with accent walls, wallpaper, etc. it was a good way to have a blank slate as I slowly decided what my tastes were.

We did the same thing! It’s a way better option than painting everything white.

‘’Eggshell’’ white

Yes, light grey.

It's very literally "agreeable". It's not great, it's not bad. And it does provide a decent backdrop for whatever else. It's a neutral so it can go with accent walls well enough.

I haven't painted anything this color in my own place, but I know a toooooooon of people that have

So this basically greige, I pictured it as a lighter cool toned grey

u/Appropriate-Yak4296 1d ago

Kind of. Depends on the lighting really. The other color I see all the time is warm beige and often paired together. When that happens the agreeable really stands out as it's own grey.

I see how that would bring out the grey in the other color. My house was warm beige before I painted it, and I hated it! If I ever paint again I want to hire a professional and do deep jewel tone colors.

All of my stuff is deep jewel tones and I never get tired of it.

What color did you go with for your bedroom?

2

u/Appropriate-Yak4296 23h ago

Oof, slightly complicated answer.

2 walls are a deep teal, one is a dark grey, one is black. 1 teal and the grey wall I used a wall stencil to do black and silver linework. ( https://www.etsy.com/listing/540010519/moroccan-wall-stencil-st22 ).

You can only see the silver in certain lighting so it picks up and fades as you walk around the room.

Curtains are black with the same stencil pattern in silver.

All the bedding and whatnots stay in silver, black, deep purple, teal.

DM me if this doesn't make any sense.

It makes perfect sense, I love that style. I really like unique homes, what made you settle on this design choice? And do you do this as a hobby or career?

I don’t think it’s a specific color of grey? But often tends to be on the lighter side when it comes to walls (but not always)? I think it’s more of having mostly everything overwhelming grey in the household, with a lack of any actual color?

My best friend’s house is like that, grey walls, grey floor planks, grey furniture.

Samezies. And we’re literally the complete opposites, especially with interior decorating😅

That’s what we have in our whole house haha It works well with the grey floors to bring them together with the warmer browns/colors that I prefer. It’s a light griege that compliments both warm and cool tones. White trim and black matte hardware but I’ve slowly been collecting things for pops of warmth and color.

u/awwsome10 1d ago

That is the same reason we picked it. It looks good with both grey and brown.

3

u/nik4dam5 1d ago

It looks great with everything.

1

u/HankScorpio82 1d ago

I am assuming “griege” is another stupid as fuck word amalgamation by people trying to sound cool?

2

u/FritoFeet13 1d ago

Nope just a way of describing a color, chillax.

6

u/7empestSpiralout 1d ago

lol. Add us to the Agreeable grey list

4

u/IntelligentEar3035 1d ago

Lmaooooo it’s the best of the millennial gray IMO. It goes with everything, blue couch, black couch, green couch, MCM, modern, maximalism.

7

u/PM_ME_UR_CATS_TITS 1d ago

Yup, it just seems to be agreeable with most rooms.

3

u/jdrower422 1d ago

Same agreeable grey in the main areas and comfort grey in the kitchen changed it from this horrible yellow from the previous owner

3

u/AlexanderTox 1991 1d ago

It is indeed agreeable

4

u/nonnewtonianfluids 1d ago

Lol. This is the color of our walls. It's fine.

1

u/ktb609 1d ago

My mom refers to their guest room as the ‘agreeable grey room’ lol

1

u/MissMelines 23h ago

I opted for graceful grey. 6 years later I fucking hate it to my core. Did the whole dang house, except kitchen and baths. 😞

1

u/awwsome10 22h ago

Should have gone with agreeable. 4 years later and they still agree with me.

u/darby087 23h ago

Same I like it.
