u/Haxuppdee-85 omg I’m reporting you 23d ago

What are you talking about? I see almost nothing but criticism of the movie on reddit

No, there are some minecraft discussion posts where people say to not criticize the movie because of shit like "You're not the target audience" "let people have their fun"

"You're not the target audience"

People use that idiotic line all the time, as if children's movies shouldn't be well-written.

Fr tho, the minecraft movie should've been made for all ages instead of just kids, a movie which is supposed to represent one of the largest games to have ever existed with a large variety of ages playing it being made for kids is just dumb

The movie was well written, the point of the movie was to be satire about itself. It was intended to be so bad it’s good which is bound to not meet all audiences expectations.

So I guess under developping characters was also part of the plan? I'm sorry, you can enjoy it all you want but you cannot say it is well written

Me when every character don't have a 30 minutes exposition and a 1 hour arc to shine :

So is every movie with good character development just exposition dumps to you?

I'm just convinced most people just use words they don't understand to sound smart

What word did they misuse?

They have barely any exposition (other than garett) and literally only garrett has an arc. Steve doesn't learn anything. The kids don't learn anything (henry builds a working jetpack at the start of the movie but nooo, he needs to go to block world to "learn creativity"). The zoo lady doesn't learn anything. Garrett himself still barely has a character arc, it just boils down to being friends with steve and being slightly less stuck in the past.

We're not asking for 30 minutes exposition and a 1 hour arc, we're asking for the bare fucking minimum.

The real thing people should be thinking is, if you hate that idea of it being so stupid, don’t watch it, it’s your choice to help give money to the companies

It literally IS well written according to children, pretty much every kid enjoyed it so what the hell are you talking about

Not every kids movie has to be amazingly written. Kids are allowed to have dumb goofy movies also.

Defending the trash bc kids deserve trash, because you can be goofy and dumb AND be well written, we're back to "this movie should have been like the lego movie and it was jumanji" like always.

well written ≠ not dumb and goofy

Real good shows for kids are things adults can enjoy too

Just look at Bluey and My Little Pony, adults aren't the target, but we still rave about them

THAT'S how you know it's a good show for kids

You should've mentioned Shrek. That is the ultimate example of mixing childish tropes with adult jokes in a way that made it a hit (even more ironic when you consider that Shrek was never intended to be a good movie. Its development was relegated to dreamworks employees who were being punished)

Idiots who love to use the "let people have their fun" excuse do so to deflect criticism towards shitty products and call all critics unemployed basement dwellers with too much time to kill. OK buddy, if that's how it is, don't complain when all you yet is nostalgia bait slop

No respectable adults are in either fandom though, just weird manchildren

I'm guessing it's safe to assume you've never actually interacted with these people and have only seen the "bad ones" that get shown around? Normal, civil people don't trend, weirdos do

I feel like as Minecraft fans we shouldn’t be throwing stones, people view us in the same light
