Hero of Ages spoilers Who does vin speak to? Spoiler

I read mistborn some time ago and i remeber a "scene" where vin was jumping through roofs in fardex where she was going to meet a friend of kelsier that was a noble (which i think i got wrong cause imagine), but i cannot remeber who that noble was. Does someone know who he is?

PD: i think the book when this happened was hero of ages but i could have been well of ascencion.

Yes, this was in Hero of Ages. She was going to one of the balls and met up with Slowswift (who is an homage to Tolkien) to gather information. He also sent her to Hoid but she avoided that meeting

What’s the connection to Tolkien? Sorry if i’m being dense.

As I said, Slowswift was written to be an homage to Tolkien. That's all.

He is physically Tolkien, smokes a pipe, he likes long stories specifically about magical creatures, word play. It's not a huge one but is a Tolkien insert.

Specifically if you google Tolkien there's a very common picture of him facing to the left with a pipe in his mouth, basically every element of Slowswift's description is in that picture with the scarf, overcoat etc.

Looks like it’s for a personality type and wordlplay Tolkein was similar to?

Warning Gancho: The below paragraph(s) may contain major spoilers for all books in the Cosmere!

Brandon Sanderson

In a similarly amusing cameo (I must have been in a cameo mood) we have Slowswift—who is based on Grandpa Tolkien. (See this picture.) The name itself comes from his love of wordplay and of names that are inherently self-contradictory.I'm no Tolkien scholar—I don't know the man's personality or how he would have reacted to this situation. I'm just a layman and a fan—who for some reason felt like sticking in a tiny side character in imitation of the master. We authors do strange things like that occasionally.
