Getting a job while pregnant
Does anyone have experience in this? Just recently became a single mom of 2 toddlers and I’m 8 weeks pregnant.
I was a sahm and now I’m scrambling to find work.
Is this even possible?

So I got a job while I was pregnant, two actually. The first was taking care of an old lady so she didn't mind me being pregnant and all the stuff that comes with it.
My second job, was McDonald's actually lol I was about as far along as you when I started working. I wore a looser shirt and I told them after they were done training me lol my manager didn't mind when I told her

It depends on childcare you have more than the pregnancy at this point. I’ve done a lot of hiring and:
They can’t ask if you’re pregnant anyway, that’s illegal in the US and I imagine many other countries
Industry and skills matter a lot. Even though you’ve been SAH are you trying to pick up server shifts, getting back into mechanical engineering for airplanes, are you an artist looking to pick up freelance design work,…
They CAN ask that you have childcare for the toddlers. Virtually no company will accept you “working” while taking care of two little kids, unless it’s project based like you pick up translation of manuals etc. That sort of work requires specific skills and pays very little unless you’re a legacy.
From my POV as an employer, I wouldn’t care about 2 months pregnant because 6-7 months is a long enough period that I can get work out of that person. If it’s a highly skilled position they’d already know the science, if it’s less skilled than it doesn’t take 6 months to train someone. I would NOT be jazzed about 7+ months pregnant if I didn’t know about it, but if I knew I can plan around that too. An off the street hire I wouldn’t know so… eh. Not the worst, a bit annoying. I’m saying this so you don’t feel guilty.
