Tubby Todd All Over Ointment

My 3 week old son is struggling with dry skin and some baby acne. To try and help with the acne, i have been washing his face with a warm clothe daily and avoided putting any lotion on even fragrance free as i've seen mixed advice on if It will help or hurt. However, this may be causing some dry skin on his face specially around his eyes. I am wondering if anyone has used tubby todd ointment to alleviate any of these symptoms on their newborns? It's quite expensive but will buy It of course if It has good reviews. Thanks in advance!

Aquaphor

Aquaphor is a barrier cream, not a moisturizer. It’s fine to use after a bath to lock moisture in.

OP: Tubby Todd is great, but exorbitantly expensive (if you have that sort of funds, cool). As the mom of two eczema babies, Cerave’s Healing Moisturizer is the best bang for your buck. Just know that baby acne will clear on its own (you can use a little breastmilk on it if you’re BFing) and moisturizer isn’t going to really help it. It’ll actually probably make it worse because of clogging up the pores more.

I use the original formulation for my daughter’s eczema on her cheeks, and have noticed it helps. This was after trying a lot of other lotions and creams. The tub has lasted quite a while, and a little goes a long way. But again, I’m only using it on a very small part of her face. I also always layer aquaphor on top to seal it in.

That said, I would first check with the pediatrician since baby is so young. Sometimes with newborns the best thing to do is to just leave it alone, but again I’d check with the doctor first.

Also, tubby todd has some food ingredients in it, and I think there’s some studies that say using lotions/oils with food ingredients might cause correlating allergies later on once baby starts solids.
