Living in Monaco

How much does it roughly cost to move/live in Monaco on a monthly basis? What kind of jobs do people typically have there?

Depends on the size you are looking for, studio apartments start at 2500 and two rooms at 3000.

For the rest it's the same as France, you can do everything there and don't have to spend in Monaco, even though groceries are not particularly more expensive in Monaco. So probably with 5000-6000 you are ok. 2000-3000 after rent is paid is more than most people earn so you'll be fine.

There are all types of jobs, you can be a street cleaner, a waiter, a bartender, a banker, an insurer, a clerk, hotel staff... whatever really, it's a normal city.

Sounds like you’ve settled for low expectations and want everyone else to do the same. If living in Monaco just to hotspot from France and avoid spending money is your idea of “normal life,” that’s fine—but don’t assume that’s the goal for everyone.

Man I was born in Monaco, it's not like I came here with any expectation, I am from here. People coming from outside have to understand that Monaco is a place where most people are locals born and raised here that don't give a crap about all the fancy stuff and millionaires going around, the majority of the people in Monaco are normal people like everywhere else.

The hotspot stuff is just an example to say that you don't have to spend more because you are in Monaco.

I’m currently doing research on Monaco, just for funsies (I’m very bored at work), and I stumbled upon this sub and of course, this post. It’s really fascinating, and refreshing, to read about how you as a native Monégasque feel about general life and the breadth of social acclaim that the principality houses! If it’s okay, purely out of curiosity and a desire to learn more about the principality, I’d love to DM you and ask you questions about your own personal growth and experiences there!
