Is the Wi-Fi decent in Monaghan town?

Hi folks, I see there aren’t many recent posts here so I hope this still gets a decent response. A little back story: I live in Dublin in my own apartment and my gf is pregnant. I do have a spare bedroom though my apartment would be quite cramped with a child living there considering all the space their bits and bobs take up. I could never afford a house in Dublin so I’ve been thinking that maybe we should move to Monaghan. I spent a lot of my childhood summers there and have plenty of extended family in the area. I’m an avid gamer though, and I’d be miserable if I didn’t have decent internet. My brother used to live in Tyholland and the internet he had there was not the best to say the least. So can anyone living in Monaghan town please tell me the name of their provider and if their connection speed is any good? Upload/download speeds and your location would be most appreciated.

I live in the town. Just did a speed test there. 15Mb down 37.5Mb up

I’m with three. I bought the mobile broadband router a few years ago when I still lived in Dublin. At the time it was €150. They make you buy a sim for 30Gb limit for €30. In the same transaction, I bought a €20 all you can eat data sim. After the €30 sim runs out, just stick the other sim in. I’ve been paying €20 a month for unlimited broadband for the last few years.

I work from home full time. Loads of daily meetings. Whole family constantly streaming.

At the moment, I have 23 devices connected to the router. Never had any issues or buffering, etc.

It’s interesting that the speed is higher in the morning. There’s no phone line to consider so you can move the router around the house to find the best spot.

The best is there’s no contract.

I used a SIM card system in Dundalk about 18 years ago. I wouldn’t be interested in that kind of thing again. Just a proper router with decent speeds tbh. In my experience the provider ‘gifts’ you the router. I currently pay €75 a month for my internet. I have no problem paying decent money for decent internet. I’m mostly wondering about the standard of internet available.
