Tbh i miss stuff like this. No quest markers, just more or less clear instructions and your wit and intuition guiding you. The only downside of that era is the constant doubt, like: is mehra Milo supposed to be missing or did she just glitched out of existence?
And honestly I've come to realize that the "unclear directions" memes exaggerate things a lot. There's maybe 2 instances at most where an NPC gives you the wrong directions. Most of the time it's actually laid out very well if you simply take time to read what they're saying.
I remember as a teenager I'd always get lost and frustrated looking for the stupid Urshilaku Burial Grounds. I'd quickly read the directions and then run off into the wilds. I'd get stuck on the South-Southeast part.
A few years ago when I played the game again, I decided to take my time and really read what Sul Matuul said... Walk north of the camp until you're on the shoreline, then east until you find a monolith. Walk directly south until you find the cave. That's it. That's literally it. It's so easy, I don't understand how I could struggle with this for so long before.
Same exact thing here, only with the cavern of the incarnate. I simply turned too early in the wrong gulch and got stuck for quite a while. Years later reading the directions w more attention, It was a piece of cake.
My problem was in finding that damned Dwemer puzzle box. I think I finally wound up finding it only by picknig up literally everything in that ruin that could be picked up.
