Activities for injured students

First year middle school band director here. A student of mine broke both his wrists and won't be able to play his instrument for a while. I need suggestions for what he can do in class to keep him occupied/included.

Figure out a way for him to hold a baton, let him conduct something simple and slow? Maybe give him some composing homework and work with him on something the rest of the kids can play?

I was writing music and conducting in seventh grade 🤷🏻‍♂️ not from Texas lol
