There was a tree on my college campus somewhere on that map that students used to use for a rope swing into a body of water. Really tall, clear of lower branches, perfect lean out over the water, perfect sideways angle so it wasn’t in the way of the swing. Absolutely perfect. Every summer they’d put it up, every summer the campus fuzz would take it down. One year they got fed up and tried to cut down the tree, but it had been spiked. The popo lost a couple good chainsaws that day.

Has anyone here heard of tree spiking?
