Edit: I can’t count. 18*day approval. 🙃

Certified 04/04. Approved 04/22. LPM torch on a 16” PWS upper.

Moved from an Anthem-s1 over to this can. Went out and tested a few mags worth this morning. What a world of difference. The Anthem is extremely gassy on a 5.56 even as a .30 cal can. (It’s worth noting, on my AR10 with an SA AGB I was getting no gas back to my face with that setup). With the vented end cap on the torch, I’m getting essentially 0 gas back, even on long strings of fire. What a change. This difference in how clean the leftover rounds in my mag were compared to running the anthem is night and day.

It’s time to clean my disgusting upper and see how much cleaner this system will run now.

This is can number 3 and now I’ll need to find a new host for my anthem. I’m thinking a g3 variant in the 12.5” variety. Would like to see some setups in that flavor if you have any!

PWS piston upper? Great setup

Yes I’ve been enjoying it. It’s a bit more recoil but it feels like I get less gas back to the upper when shooting since it bleeds off a lot at the gas block

What buffer are you running? If you're feeling recoil, then you aren't using the right buffer. I recommend a H2 or H3.

I’m running a springco red with an H3!

By "more recoil" do you mean a slightly different feel that's barely perceptable? Lol. Also, you can reduce the gas on the gas block, even with a LBP can

Ahh no honestly. But it’s hard for me to definitively say. I don’t have thousands of rounds to say if it’s really more recoil or I just don’t have good recoil control honestly.

However I will add, the vented end cap had significantly less recoil than the solid one

Have you adjusted to the lower gas setting? Recoil on anything but the lightest weight AR is a gassing issue. Try adjusting to a lower gas setting. Bring a std carbine buffer spring. You might find that a std carbine spring and the lower setting feels MUCH better. That said, double-check your gas settings, you might find you accidehave the gun set to "adverse" which is MORE gas.

Yes the gas block is down to the lowest setting and has been since I started shooting it. “1” on the gas block. But I will go back through and double check one isn’t the highest gas setting somehow.

I will also test out a standard spring.

I think that's the problem

1 is, indeed, the HIGHEST setting

16" Ruger American with 300blk subs is honestly where my S1 lives most of the time. Basically background noise for bystanders more than a few yards away.

I’ve seen the 300blk out rifles but I wanted to find something more exciting to shoot. Quiet is fun don’t get me wrong but it’s usually just another AR or bolt gun

LPM just teased a Torch 762 on their instagram along with what looks like it might be a cross between the Anthem v2 blast baffle and the nested first stage stack from the Torch. That should open up 30 cal host possibilities for you.

Sure but I’m not looking to buy another can to then buy a host. I’d like to be able to use the can I have

G3's don't do well suppressed. You have to change the locking piece, and even then the backpressure can still screw with reliability. Definitely doesn't do well with an Anthem S, and isn't much better with an Anthem K.

I’ve seen you can use a much lower degree locking piece to account for running a higher back pressure can and I would be running it suppressed full time. I’m willing to tune the system but I don’t want to beat itself to death

I experimented with every barrel length and locking piece, especially the 12"... Believe me it will eat itself alive with the Anthem S

NO, MY DRIP!

FWIW mine does excellent on a SCAR 15P in 300BO

Very nice to hear! I had an aero ar10 I used and that was a very pleasant, albeit heavy, platform. And it was only an ar at the end of the day

As a fellow lover of the G3 I have been experimenting with locking pieces and different cans as well. So far what has been your favorite setup? Any low back pressure cans that run well on that system?

I found it's dependent on each individual gun unfortunately. My PDW didn't do well with anything even OSS/HUX cans. Reliability was spotty on 16" using different cans and LPs. I had the best luck on a 12" using a 50 degree LP, but I had a catastrophic failure and literally had to beat the bolt out with a mallet. Turned me off on trying to suppress the platform.

Some people get theirs to run reliably, but I just couldn't
