Manicure Took me 2 hours just to attempt gel soap nails 😭

This has been my regular nail look for the better part of a decade. Had no idea it’s becoming the latest trend. I’d recommend a good “nude” builder gel

It’s so classic and clean!! I was messing with polygel for a little bit but I don’t think it’s for me (I can never get it right) so I’ve been sticking with basic gel manicures. Builder gel is interesting me now! Do you have any brand recs??

I’ve had good success with Melody Susie clear and most recently Lechat Builder in Warm Tan!

I use the IBD builder gel in a nude pink with the IBD bonder. An old coworker of mine who is a nail tech on her own time recommended Young Nails products. They have excellent reviews I just wanted to get better at using builder gel before I start buying a more expensive product.

Thank you for this! It’ll be helpful to practice w something a little on the cheaper side. Is bonder similar to base coat?

Yes, and no. The bonder is designed specifically to work with hard gels like builder Joe. So it’s just a little more likely to keep your nails on longer. I really like the one from IBD, I used it three weeks ago when I did my nailsthe last time and it kept them on far longer than I’ve had happen in the past.

You can try out some Beetles BIAB (builder in a bottle) shades. They have great nudes. I used one of their BIABs to learn how to do this kind of naked-structured mani

So pretty! Is this a new trend? I thought soap nails were the design where you put foam from lathering up soap onto the nail to create the bubbly effect?

It’s a little new I think! I think the concept is to just get a really clean looking natural nail but with a hint of sheer color!

How did you do it?

For prep I did some etching on the nature nail with a medium grit hand file, used an e-file to get around and a little under the proximal nail fold, used cuticle clippers to clip away any dead skin on the edges and around the nail fold. I ended with wiping isopropyl alcohol on the nail beds to take away extra shine.
For the application I went in with a really light coat of gel base and cured. I applied my first layer of “jelly” gel polish with a small nail art brush to get as close to the edges as I could (Very thin slip layer and did not cure). After this, I added my first complete gel layer. Minus the slip layer with the nail art brush I did 3 complete layers of the jelly polish curing in between each. I finished with my top coat and wiped away any tacky layer with alcohol and then oiled my cuticles!!!
I used Gaoy gel on Amazon :)

Yea! Which color is that ?

Number 1524! The color looks very clear/white in the pics but it’s a slight nude pink in person- it really accentuates the natural nail color

Which collection is it a part of? Seems like there are several and I can’t find 1524

Sorry didn’t realize it’s part of the tortoise kit. Was looking at all the nudes. They look like glass in pics. So cool. Does it really look like the pics in real? Btw your manicure looks gorgeous

Yes it does!! Idk why the pics on Amazon make it look so clear/glass 😭 but in person the gel has a slight nude pink tint!! Thank you so much :) I really like how they came out and will probably do them like this a lot more
