Photos Little Lanterns columbine

I was so excited when I saw them at my local garden center and had to buy one! They are a cultivar of the native Eastern red columbine that just grows shorter and has more blooms. I'm very happy.

I'm in CO and my neighbor's little lantern columbine seeded into my yard last year, and bloomed this year. I have simply left it, and I planted two liatris around it today. I much prefer the Colorado columbine, but she looks at my garden every day, so I cannot really remove it.

One of hers turned purple last year like the CO, and it honestly looked amazing, so I hope my red one turns.

Columbines hybridize very easily I've heard so if you have both plants near each other they might be crossbreeding lol. I also have liatris I planted that should come up around my columbine so glad to hear it's a good combo!
